100+ Indoor Activities To Do With Kids During Lockdown

Times are tough and the majority of us are staying safe at home. I work from home regardless and I have homeschooled my kids for almost 6 years now so I’m lucky that my routine is service as normal really. Albeit we don’t get out as much as we normally did pre-covid times of course.

I know how challenging it can be to juggle everything and entertain the kids, so I’ve put together a huge list of activities and fun things to do with the kids at home. May your sanity be made of steel and your glass always be full!

1.  Build a den.
2.  Have a movie day.
3.  Make a thank you sign for your front door or gate to show key workers that their hard work is appreciated.
4. Create a music playlist with everyone’s favourite songs and have a dance and singalong.
5. Play board games.
6. Turn one of your rooms into an escape room game.
7. Do an indoor treasure hunt.
8. Learn a hobby such as crochet. Older kids could make face scrubbies or a shower puff.
9. Have a picnic in the living room.
10. Play bowling.
11. Do some window decorating.
12. Play ‘Find it’. Choose a colour and players have to go and find 5 objects in that colour.
13. Make a leaf collage.
14. Recycle old crayons.
15. Remember the floor is lava? My two love playing this.
16. Have a bake-off and create something yummy to watch on your movie day.
17. Do a jigsaw together. Jigsaws are a great way to spend time together.
18. Hold a video call with friends or family.
19. Create an e-card online and send it to someone.
20. Print off some fun colouring printables and get colouring.
21. If you have an Alexa you can listen to audiobooks and play games. You can get lots of ideas on my Alexa post.
22. Have a slime bath.
23. Make some Valentine’s Day crafts.
24. Create a cardboard scene for an existing toy. We made a space background for PJ Masks figures and my youngest loved it!
25. Make a super easy rag wreath.
26. Make your own popsicle/ice lollies.
27. Use your leftover popsicle sticks to make cute photo frames.
28. Make a simple pom pom rug.
29. Do a scavenger hunt in the back garden (if you have one).
30. Make a superhero straw shooter.
31. Have a music day and make some instruments like this paper plate tambourine.
32. Do some indoor camping.
33. Make some homemade fudge.
    
34. Have international themed dinners. You could have an American themed dinner one night and Italian the next. Print of some flags and such to dress the table.
35. Bake some cookies.
36. Make some pasta jewellery.
37. Create a cozy reading nook using beanbags or cushions for storytime.
38. Decoupage something.
39. Make a thank you sign for your front door or gate that thanks key workers for their hard work.
40. Make your own playdough.
41. Recycle cardboard boxes and make something cool like a car or a ship.
42. Make a sock puppet.
43. Download some fun free apps. Cbeebies has loads to do on their children’s app.
44. Make a bird feeder.
45. Take some virtual tours online.

48. Do some fun STEM activities.
    
49. Have a music lesson online.
50. Colour in *a cardboard house.
51. Have homemade pizza and create your own toppings.
52. Do some cool science experiments.
53. Watch some wildlife on live webcams online.
54. Make some ornaments or bowls from air drying clay.
55. Make a bedroom door hanger.
56. Star watch. We have the night sky app which is brilliant for this.
57. Have a declutter and bag some things for charity.
58. Do some finger painting.

61. Play some cooperative games on a console where you have to work together. We play Overcooked and Moving Out on our PS4, which is really fun.
62. Build something with lego or blocks.
63. Make some paper aeroplanes.

65. Make a stop motion animation video.
66. Play ‘Alphabet hunt’.
67. Look for shapes around the home.
68. Do some roleplay. Run a restaurant, a shop or a cafe. The options are endless.

72. Do story-based activities. One of the many we have done is designing a weird and wonderful chocolate making machine after reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
73. Upcycle some toilet roll tubes and do some crafts. There is plenty of inspiration on Pinterest.
74. If you have trees in your garden, do some bark rubbings.
75. Make a card for someone. Download some pretty clipart to decorate your card.
    
76. Bake a mug cake.
77. Fill the sink with water and add bath toys for some fun water play.
78. Put on a show.
79. Draw a life-sized self-portrait. You can buy *rolls of drawing paper that would be plenty big enough.  Let the kids lie down and draw around them. They can then decorate themselves. They could even stick it to cardboard afterwards, make a life-sized cutout and create an audience for their show.
80. Make a weather diary.
81. Cook homemade pizza and add lots of fantastic toppings.
82. Craft something out of paper mache.
83. Make a bookmark.
84. Make a suncatcher to hang in the window.
85. Play Charades.
86. Make paper flowers.
87. Play ‘Would you rather’.
88. Learn to sew. Start with something simple like sewing a peg/clothespin bag.
    
89. Make a volcano.
90. Make your own track for toy cars.

94. Have a mess-free paint session by using an *Aquadoodle mat.
95. Play cards – Snap, Rummy, Slapjack and so on.
96. Make a calendar. You could order an online personalised calendar or make your own and then stick on a *mini-calendar tab.
    
97. Make a washi tape handprint keepsake.
98. Find some pebbles in the garden, paint them and now you have story stones!
99. Play dress up.
100. Do some face painting.
101. Listen to an audiobook together.
102. Visit Museum Of London online and work through their super fun activities from the Museum Of Fundom! Pretend to be a sailor in the 1800’s, play memory games, craft famous London buildings and much more!
103. Make a scrapbook.
104. Build a *domino rally.
105. Play *Jenga.
106. Learn to cross-stitch.
107. Hold a talent show.
108. Play I Spy.
