We have been home schooling for 5 years now. We use a variety of resources for our learning but Twinkl is one of our main go-to’s for inspiration. Whether you have a history session planned and need to seek some displays, or perhaps you want to plan a little downtime and need some colouring resources, Twinkl has it all.
The weather has been a little hit and miss the past few days, so we’ve been keeping busy indoors. As both of my boys love colouring, I thought it would be a nice idea to head to Twinkl and download some colouring sheets.
Whilst there I came across some fab thank you printables that include all of our key workers, so we decided to make a sign for the gate.
We were kindly sent a beautiful stationery bundle from STABILO. Which is perfect whilst we are all spending time at home. Not only is there every shade in the rainbow to colour with, they have fab pens for little learners. Like the Easy Start pen, that comes with the option of left or right-handed ergonomic grip.
Jayden wanted the rainbow on the printable to be really colourful, so he chose the ColorParade felt tip pens to colour in our sign. I love that the case they come in can be used as a stand. It just makes it easier to grab the colour you want.
Joben loved the chunky 3 in 1 woodys. He thought that being able to use the same crayon to draw, colour and paint was awesome. You can also paint on windows with the woody 3 in 1’s which we are yet to do. In my defence, I have just cleaned our windows so perhaps we can do that next week!
The Easy Start pencils have a specially contoured grip and you can buy them for left or for right-handed children. The contouring promotes correct grip whilst also making it comfortable to use.
When our sign was all bright and colourful, we popped it into our laminator. Once that was done, I punched two holes at the top and threaded some string through.
I hope our sign will brighten up someone’s day!

I’d never used Twinkl before but over the past 6 weeks have used a few things from them. I really wish I’d known about them when my girls were younger.
The chunky 3 in 1 woodys look fab. Painting and drawing using the same pencil is just brilliant. It looks like you’ve had great fun! x
The children on our street have been making dozens of these kinds of rainbow posters for key workers.
We don’t have a printer so our twinkle account is a bit pointless atm. We have made signs and popped them in our window though
