When it comes to preparing our kids for the new school year, whether they’re heading to a classroom or continuing their education journey at home, having the right back to school clothing is essential.
As a die-hard homeschool mum, I understand the importance of selecting outerwear that is not only durable and weather-resistant but also versatile enough to meet the demands of my two mud magnets!
I can’t believe I have been homeschooling our boys for 10 years now!
There are days when the demands of my work, uni work, and homeschooling collide, yet the flexibility and one-to-one connection that homeschooling offers make it all worthwhile.
I’ve been able to create a learning environment that supports my autistic son’s needs while also fostering a strong, supportive bond between my children. It’s not just the academic side, it’s also about instilling values, exploring interests, looking after their wellbeing and making learning fun!
To welcome a new term, we’ve teamed up again with the lovely Very UK to bring you our mum-approved Back to school clothing top picks, that are not just practical but super stylish! Whether they’re braving the elements on the way to school, playing outside during homeschool breaks, or embarking on field trips, we’ve got it covered.
Practical Jackets – Comfort Meets Durability
I absolutely love these padded Adidas coats. They are perfect for keeping kids warm as the temperatures drop. Yet they’re not overly bulky so kids can move freely and comfortably without getting too hot.
I think the lovely navy shade makes these coats easy to mix and match with school uniforms or casual outfits and an extra plus is they don’t show up as much dirt!
Another bonus is the unisex design, which means you can pass these jackets down from one sibling to another, making them a practical and sustainable choice for families.

Everyday Essential Sportswear
Sportswear doesn’t have to cost a fortune. I love pairing up these simple jogger shorts made from a cotton-rich blend with a plain cotton t/shirt.
The packs come in classic black and khaki or grey and navy. They wash really well and stand the test of time.
The plain black t/shirts come in a pack of three. Perfect for P.E. lessons and outdoor adventures.

Brilliant Backpacks
This has to be my favourite colour backpack ever! I love the apple-green shade of this Adidas backpack. It’s super colourful and has plenty of storage for books, lunch bags, stationery, clothing and more.

As you can see, Joben has already taken to his bag! He loves taking his iPad out and about, as he takes lots of photos and processes them all when we get home. This bag will easily hold that or even a laptop, along with snacks, lunchbox, pencil cases and water bottles.
I can tell this backpack will last us for some years to come.

Branded Back To School/Homeschool Trainers
We live in the beautiful countryside and we like to enjoy it as much as we possibly can.
Comfortable trainers like these Tensaur Run 3.0 Trainers are great for our outdoor adventures.
They are lightweight, breathable and make a perfect addition to P.E. kits or walks.
Very has so many options when it comes to school shoes, there is a little something for all ages.

Back-to-School/Homeschool Lunches Made Easy
Hype lunch bags keep lunches fresh and organised. They are super roomy inside, durable and lightweight. There are also a wide range of cool designs to choose from!
Whether packing up for a busy school day or a homeschool lunch break, these lunch bags are practical, affordable and get the job done.

Whether your child is heading back off to school or continuing a homeschooling journey, I hope the transition is as smooth as possible for all you parents out there! We all know how much stuff kids need and how expensive things can be. Very has a huge range of back-to-school items that are budget-friendly as well as being from top brands so you can be assured that they are going to last as well as look great.
Oh wow! 10 years home schooling your boys! You are amazing! I was so done after a few months during the lockdowns. lol
My youngest has a pretty similar Adidas coat but hers is black.
It looks like the boys are all set with their new clothes, I love that backpack. It’s such a great size. x
Can get quite pricey ! I try to stick with a budget with np frills attached
Some lovely items there. I wonder what we did before backpacks; they’re so convenient for all the stuff children need and the materials and designs these days are fabulous.
Congratulations on home schooling your children for 10 years. That’s quite an achievement for anyone let alone juggling your studies, your blog and your home, as well.
This was so handy this September, thank you
