Becoming a Parent is the most amazing, life changing experience that you will ever encounter in your whole life time. An emotional roller coaster that we all ride and survive. Just having these little people who love you endlessly and depend on you 100% makes everything worth while.
BUT, and it’s a big massive ‘but’, they don’t tell us everything. It’s like a conspiracy.
They don’t prepare us for that one thing that is going to change our lives forever……..Cbeebies Shows. Yes you are going to know each and every one of these shows theme songs off by heart. Every word, every single note, it will stick in your head, like cow muck to a tractor wheel.
I have done a 5 year stretch with my first born, and will go through it all again with baby number two. Even the Kids Grandad (my dad) knows them all.
Check out these instances of the sheer power of Cbeebies.
● You won’t ever be able to wash your hands again without breaking into “Roll up your sleeves, give your hands a wash, with slippy dippy soap, splish splash splosh!
● Getting into your car turns you into Edie McCredie, “When I honk my horn step inside”.
● You nearly get arrested for singing “Show me Show me” whilst standing next to a complete stranger in your local supermarket.
● You get the flat pack furniture home and whilst your other half stares emptily at the instructions, you can’t resist the urge other than to shout “ooooow la la la can you make it Mr Maker?”. (my favourite)
● Time is of the essence and you’re running so late, which cues you to put your dodgy Scottish accent on, transform into Tina from ‘Me Too’ and bellow “I’ve got to do it, I’ve got to do it, I’ve got to beat the clock before the chime. I’ve got to sort it, I’ve got to sort it, I’ve got to do the job on time!”.
● Even a simple game of footie with the little ones triggers off Nina and the neurons “Get sporty dooby dooby do do do be do”.
It’s there in everything we do, we eat, sleep and breath it.
There is no escape.
I bet you’ve even been sat there still watching these programmes long after your child has left the room?
It’s ok though I totally understand. I used to be cool and rock out to Metallica and listen to a bit of Pink, Now I throw shapes to Justin and not the Timberlake or Timberland one!
Well I haven't heard of CBeebies yet, but it sounds like something fun for the kidlet. Is this in the UK only?
It is here in the UK, and it is quite a hit for the little ones, but the theme songs to majority of the programmes are weirdly addictive.
Thankfully we're at the end of the CBeebies' years – it gets to the stage where you feel like you've been brain-washed. We did love Gigglebiz though – Justin's a genius. #TwinklyTuesday

You're onto a winner with this – the two posts I've written with Cbeebies in the title have been some of my most popular ever! Yes, agree with everything – those songs definitely get stuck in your head – let's not forget "be happy, be healthy, and get well soon" while waiting in the doctor's surgery. And I am VERY familiar with "I've got to do it, I've got to do it, i've got to beat the clock before the chime" as well as "can you show me the way I go?". I think I am coming to the end of watching CBeebies….My eldest was just growing out of it when my youngest started watching it….Now she is starting to grow out of it. I may be free but I will never be free because yep those tunes will always be stuck in my head. lol

HAHAHA I love this post. I have a very affectionate relationship with CBeebies and blogged about it a few weeks ago. It makes my life run like clockwork. But you are so right, I find myself humming the theme tunes all the time. Duggee is my favourite and I am often found humming it in work. It is just something about the Banjos!! #TwinkyTuesday

Lol, oh yes I have definitely found myself still watching CBeebies while the children nap and yes, the "roll up your sleeves and give your hands a wash" song is one we sing very regularly in our house! Sophie's nickname is Sophie-woo and I now find myself singing it to the tune of the Twirlywoos song 🙂

I thought my Cbeebies days were over then our little surprise number 3 arrived. Now it's never off and even the 7 year old is a convert asking for this instead of transformers. I used to be cool….ish. I used to walk round a supermarket humming to the likes of Mumford and Sons and Ben Howard. I'm ashamed to say they've been replaced now like you it the tweenies and Melody #MMWBH

We don't have a telly so I can limit Cbeebies exposure to the ones that I can tolerate, which so far is, In The NIght Garden (very relaxing, creepy songs tough).
My son loves it and you are right. I am so familiar with it that its my time, my clock. When Kate and Mimmim is finish in the morning we already need to go out of the house and start walking to school. #TwinklyTuesday
You're right – I used to love CBeebies! I still sometimes get the Get Set Go song on the brain when I have to get up early, and we think of Number 5 from Numberjacks when any of us worry too much!
My only exposure to CBeebies was 10 minutes when I spent a week watching my nephew. As soon as my mother left the flat, I declared it screen-free time. My nephew wasn't accustomed to human interaction, so I didn't want the temptation!
