What a year it has been guys! We have all spent more time in our homes and entertaining ourselves the best way we can.
I tell you something, we have played so many board games the past few months than we have ever done! I’m so grateful for these boredom busters and it’s a nice way for us, as a family, to spend time together.
We have recently discovered another fab way to have fun at home thanks to Trapped!
What is Trapped?
Trapped is a new escape room series from Golden Bear Toys. There are three trapped games to enjoy – The Carnival (which we have), Art Heist and Bank Attack.
Trapped enables you to turn any of your rooms at home into an escape room. How cool is that? And with the current circumstances, any entertainment at home is greatly welcomed as that is one place that we can stay safe!
Trapped: The Carnival Age 8+ Years RRP £10
Each of the Trapped games has a puzzle rating and Carnival is puzzle level EASY, making it ideal for children to get involved. The rating is 8 years but I think slightly younger children could help out with a little guidance.
The main storyline of Carnival is how it is your lifelong dream to work alongside fabled fortune-tellers and jaw-dropping performers of Muggins Carnival. Soon after you apply, the Ringmaster invites you to an interview you’ll never forget!
Nothing is what it seems as you perform the initiation tests which entails baffling puzzles and mysteries. Race head-to-head with your family to see who will be crowned King or Queen of the Carnival. You can also work in small teams too.
Setting Up The Game
There is no board to set up with Carnival as it is an escape room challenge, so all you need to do is take all of the contents from the box. We positioned everything face down so we didn’t get too familiar with the puzzles before we started. There is also a ‘How To Play’ manual to help you get to grips with the game before you play.
Firstly decide whether you want to play against a fixed time, let’s say an hour, or until everyone finishes.
When setting the game up we noticed that on the back of each puzzle was an instruction telling us where to place each item. There is a sheet of double-sided sticky tabs included that you can use to stick your puzzles to the wall, you don’t have to use them as you can lean your puzzles on a chair or a window ledge. We used them on some puzzles and it easily peeled off the wall afterwards.
The puzzles were really fun to crack and at times we had to mix information from different puzzles to solve certain clues.
I think Jayden’s favourite part was the Duck Shootout!
Once you have solved all of the clues, you then move on to the duck-shooting range to see how many bonus points you can collect.
The player or team with the most points wins! And to find out if you got the job, use the Results Table to see whether you passed the Ringmaster’s test.

Sounds like fun. I’d love to play a board game with you. Merry Christmas! #MMBC
This sounds right up my street.
What a great sounding game. We’re all about playing games at the moment with the kids and my fella being home. x
I like the sound of this. I’ve never really taken much notice of ‘escape room’ type games before because I assumed they would need a lot of extras that weren’t included in the game. But this sounds ideal.
Oh we have literally played our games every day, we are bored of them now haha. We need to invest in some new ones and this sounds great.
This looks great fun. I enjoy any form of puzzles and I think my grandaughter could help with them and maybe do the duck shootout for me.
SOunds great – love escape rooms!
Perfect family game and NO screen time :-))
