A tidy desk

A messy home can often make you feel like you don’t even want to be there. That’s not what you want when it comes to your property. You want to feel like you can relax and enjoy your surroundings. Here are some handy tips to keep your home clutter-free so you can enjoy the space you’re in.

Have A Place For Everything

Like you, everything deserves a home, and to stop things from lying around, tripping you over, or causing stress, you want to have a place for it. Look at what’s lying on your floor right now. The likelihood is that it shouldn’t be there, and yet it never seems to have a place where it sits on something, in something or is just out of the way in general. It could be a handbag or paperwork that’s full of house admin. It’s most likely that, in this case, you don’t have enough storage. Buy extra storage for these items, get rid of them or rent a storage unit. Pick the last option if you do not want to throw your personal belongings away. When I checked the Henfield website, the storage unit nearest to my place was a self storage in Oxford.

Do A Spring Clean For Every Season

A spring clean is a great way to cleanse the soul. It can make you fall in love with the property all over again, and you can rediscover a room that may have been full of clutter. We all hoard to varying degrees, some more than others, and it can be easy to let it get on top of you. You should also do a declutter when you are selling up your home before you organise a removals company. The last thing you want is to be taking furniture and belongings over to a new home when it’s just going to sit in a cupboard or on top of a shelf, collecting dust.

Question Your Purchases

It’s important to try to live within your means, especially when it comes to what you’re spending. No one wants to get themselves in debt, and it’s not a great situation to be in for your mental health. To avoid bringing too much into your home, question your purchases. Give yourself a moment when you’re at the checkout to assess your shopping basket and to validate the worth of the contents inside. There’s going to be one or two items that you probably don’t need, and if it’s going to reduce the clutter, then you might as well take it out. Try to be strict with yourself where you can, but don’t deny treating yourself every now and then.

Separate The Rubbish From The Sentimental

We do collect sentimental items, but often, some of this stuff can be rubbish. Train tickets or old shoes that had some significant value in your childhood years. A lot of our sentimental items could possibly be thrown, and it can be tough to let go. However, it’s important to separate the rubbish from the sentimental.

Keeping your home clutter-free is important, and you can make a real difference with these tips.
