Solar panels installed on the roof of a house.

There has been a lot of talk about alternative energy sources in recent years. One of the most prominent discussions revolves around solar energy, especially with innovations like premium solar battery storage that make it easier to rely on the power you generate. This is because it is renewable, which means that it is a completely sustainable source of energy for your home. You may have seen other houses with these panels on their roofs and wondered, is solar power really worth it?

The short answer is, yes; however, it is your decision to make. We have some interesting facts about solar power so that you can determine whether this energy source is something you need in your home.

It Runs Everything

One of the main concerns that people have about solar energy is they believe it to be quite limited. It may power your lights, but there is a lot more in your home that requires electricity. Can this energy source keep everything in your home going at the same time?

Yes. Solar power can be used as an alternative to your regular energy source, and it won’t struggle to power your lights, computer, fridge, T.V, and more all at the same time. Therefore, you can reliably switch to this type of energy solution and continue to live your life as normal.

It Could Save You Money

Solar energy is much cheaper to generate than other forms of power. All you need are the panels to absorb the sunlight, and you will have power. There is no need to pay someone else for the resources, which means that solar energy could save you money on your energy costs.

If you have ever asked yourself the question, are solar panels really worth it, you can find out at fmb.org.uk. You will have to pay for the installation of these panels, but once they are ready, you can enjoy cheap, clean energy from here on out. There have even been cases where people have harnessed too much power, and they have sold off the excess for a profit.

It Can Increase The Value Of Your Property

Speaking of money, you may be interested to learn that solar panels can increase the value of your current property. As mentioned before, the energy you have stored can be sold back to the grid for a nice profit. Plenty of new homeowners would love to have access to this scheme, which means that they are happy to pay more for a home with solar panels. This is especially true since they do not have to pay to have the panels installed. It is estimated that solar panels can increase your property value by up to four percent, which isn’t something you should think about turning down.

They Work All Year Round

A common myth surrounding the use of solar panels is that they only work when the sun is out. If you live in the UK, this assumption renders your solar energy solution completely useless. It is understandable why many people think this way. Solar panels work by drawing in U.V rays and converting them into energy. Therefore, the sun needs to be present for the system to work. However, this assumption isn’t true.

It doesn’t matter what time of year it is or how the weather is behaving, your solar panels will continue to work throughout any circumstance. This is because you rarely use all the energy that is being absorbed from the sun’s rays. This means that your panels will build up a surplus for use when the sun isn’t present. What’s more, solar panels work when it is light, so they will start storing energy even when the sun is tucked behind the clouds. If you were worried about how much use you were going to get out of your solar panels, you now understand that there was no need for your concern. Solar panels effectively work all year round.

Solar Energy Is Pollution Free

The main reason why you are being encouraged to invest in solar energy is that it is a sustainable energy source. This means that it will never run out like fossil fuels. However, there is another benefit for our planet when you get your energy from solar panels.

The burning of fossil fuels emits harmful gasses into the atmosphere. Coal and gas energy systems create a lot of pollution, and it is this pollution that is contributing to climate change. If the world continues on this path, then it may be too late to prevent permanent damage to the planet. Fortunately, solar energy does not emit any pollution whatsoever. Therefore, you can receive all the benefits you would with other energy systems, only now can you relax knowing that your actions are not going to negatively affect the planet. The more people jump on board with solar energy, the better chance we have at combatting climate change.

It Is Used All Around You

Solar energy is not as new as you may have initially thought. For starters, this energy solution was first discovered back in 1954. However, it had a different function back.

NASA required an energy source to carry their experiments safely through space. Of course, there is plenty of light in space, so they came up with solar power as a solution to fuel their first rockets. This breakthrough was also applied to airplanes when they started to become popularised. Although, solar energy didn’t stop there.

For decades, solar energy has worked to run specific public transport systems, such as trams, trains, and buses. You may not have noticed it at the time, but solar power may have propelled you to another destination. Solar power is being used all around us all the time, so maybe it is time you joined the party.

Solar Panels Are Cheaper Than Ever

Since solar panels were once the pinnacle of energy technology, they fetched a lofty price. This meant that it was hard for the average person to affix them to their home and save on their energy bills. However, this technology has progressed so much in the last few decades.

Back in 1977, the cost of solar energy was almost £100 per watt. Nowadays, a watt of solar energy is worth around 50p. That is a drop in price of around 99%. The world needs solar energy, and this technology isn’t finished progressing. Who knows how much less it will cost in just a few years’ time?

It Is Part Of The Future

As it currently stands, solar energy is the third most used source of power in the world. Huge solar plants have been constructed in China to harness as much power as possible, and the UK is slowly coming to the forefront of this technology.

Fossil fuels won’t last forever, which is why you are being pushed to invest in renewable energy sources like solar power. There will come a time when solar power is the main source of power in this country, so you may want to start investing now.

The best thing about solar power is that it has benefits for everyone. It can save you money on your bills, and it helps improve the state of the planet at the same time.

  2. I think all new houses should be fitted with solar power panels as standard now. They really are the way forward.

  3. I really would love to invest in some small solar panel on my balcony and have the electricity stored in a portable battery, like the ones you find in camping. Sadly I live in a block of flats so it is not possible to install solar panels but I guess a mini one should be okay. Every little helps
