Being part of Asmodee’s blogger board game club sees us trying out lots of games. Our last review was of Rory’s Story Cubes, which is a fab family game that we have been playing quite a lot of recently. This week we have been playing a game that all word lovers will enjoy…….
Bananagrams Word Game Age 7+
Bananagrams is a fun family word game for up to 6 players. Depending on how many people play as to how many tiles each player gets. One player shouts split! And everyone turns over their tiles. The aim of the game is to make as many words in a grid style as fast as you can. When you have run out of tiles, shout peel! And everybody has to take a tile. If you have a letter that you can’t use then shout dump! And pick up 3 more tiles.
When there are fewer tiles than players and you have completed your grid, shout bananas! To win the game. Should you have any mistakes then you have to return your letters to the pile and you are a rotten banana and out of the game.

This is a nice and simple game for kids to pick up without having to process lots of rules before play. It’s a great educational resource too and a brilliant way to help improve language and spellings. I like how this can be played at home or can be taken along with you on your travels. It would be ideal if you stay in a caravan/lodge and wanting something fun to pass the time for half an hour. I will certainly be popping this in my bag on our next trip.
Have you played Bananagrams?

I have seen this game before and it looks like a lot of fun. It’s also fab to teach children how to spell and read. #MMBC
We absolutely love Bananagrams and it’s also easily transportable. Our games can get quite loud and hectic!!
