My boys are always at their happiest when they are playing outside. We all like getting outdoors whatever the weather. Our house has two parcels of land attached. The end garden is quite spacious and so beautiful to sit in and relax with a cup of tea and listen to the babbling of the weir. It’s all well and good for us grown-ups to enjoy but not ideal for kids to be playing by it. The one to the rear of the house, which is quite large, had been used for parking, which was such a shame as it had the potential to make a lovely sized family garden, which is what we have been working on and still are!

I wanted the family garden to be a safe space for the boys to be able to play on. So we spent a lot of time cleaning away the weeds and debris, turning over the land and turfed that space. All it needed then was a nice playhouse. We partnered up with Fatmoose and they kindly sent us a beautiful wooden playhouse to review.

We didn’t have to wait long for delivery. Considering that it had to come from Germany, delivery was super speedy. Everything came on a pallet and it was dropped off by our back gates. We received updates throughout the whole delivery process.

On opening the package I do have to say, if you are not that confident when it comes to DIY then you may want to have someone to hand who can assemble the house for you. None of the panels are pre-drilled so you really do have to start from scratch. There are of course instructions included which are easy to follow, it is worthwhile identifying all of the different parts first as they are unmarked. Craig and I are both fine with assembling and using tools so we both got stuck in.

Playhouse 3

We did have some good old wet weather as we do here in the UK so that slightly delayed the build, but we got there eventually.

Playhouse 22I bought some kids foam floor tiles to pop in the bottom should the boys want to sit down. I’ve also got some little folding camping chairs on order too.

I think it’s safe to say the boys love their new playhouse.

Wooden playhouseThere is a small roll of green canvas that comes with the playhouse to make a curtain for the door. We decided not to use this on our playhouse as we preferred the rustic appearance, we think it looks like a miniature wooden lodge.

There are accessories that you can purchase when you order your playhouse. We had the plastic telephone which makes a noise when you press the keys. It attaches to the wall of the playhouse with a holder that is supplied with it.

Joben has been trying to order Domino’s since he found the phone!

IMG 1993The playhouse not only looks amazing it is extremely sturdy once assembled. I know that it will stand the test of time and provide many years of fun for my boys. It is also reassuring to know that the wooden parts of the playhouse are guaranteed for 10 years!

The biggest attraction to the playhouse is that it encourages imaginative play. One day it can be a cafe serving food to passers-by, the next a base camp at Mount Everest. The possibilities truly are endless.
