A burning candle

We love a good scented candle in our home. I think they are a lovely subtle scent and much less abrasive than many other types of air fresheners. Did you know that candles have been around since the Egyptians? They used to dip reeds in animal fat. Animal fat or tallow was the main ingredient in candles up until the 18th century. The first scented candles came from India, where they mixed cinnamon with the tallow to give a sweet smell when burning.

Our favourite scented candle has to be Yankee Candle. We have tried many others, and have been really pleased with some. However, Yankee Candle has such a massive choice of fragrances so there is always something new to sample. Did you know Yankee Candle was founded in 1969 by a 16 year old who melted down old wax crayons to make a candle to give his mother for Christmas? His neighbours loved his creations and he sold his candles as fast as he could make them. Now Yankee Candle produces 200 million candles per year in over 200 different scents.

With such a massive selection of fragrances, we thought that we would bring you a small selection of our current favourites.

 Pink Sands

I am really loving this one at the moment. I was given one as a gift and I have been using this one a lot. The smell is absolutely amazing! An exotic island escape with beautiful aromas of bright citrus, sweet florals and spicy vanilla.

Clean Cotton

Another favourite of mine! This is a gorgeous spring/summer fragrance. It’s mild and fresh and makes the house smell lovely.

Angels Wings

This has a wonderful sweet smelling fragrance that I just love. Jasmine is one of my favourite scents and you can really smell it in this one. It also has a mix of sugary delights, flower petals and vanilla. The smell circulates the room almost instantly.

Vanilla Cupcake

If you love the smell of cake baking away in the oven then you will love this! Vanilla cupcake has a really homely scent and it smells just as good as the real thing. this is a strong scent and before you know it your whole house will smell of yummy cake goodness.

Coastal Living

The soft gentle breeze of the sea air and sunny blue skies, can you tell I am craving a summer holiday? This candle is such a fresh scent it is hard to believe that it comes from a candle.

Coconut Splash

I love coconut fragrances whether it be a shampoo, bubble bath or candle, it smells beautiful. Coconut splash has tropical undertones as well and leaves a warming coconut and vanilla fragrance after the candle has been extinguished.

The only thing I like more than a good scented candle is getting a good scented candle at a discounted price. I always check around for the latest deals to make sure that I never pay more than I need to.

What is your favourite scented candle?
