These months are just flying by. It only seems five minutes since I shared our previous Likes and Loves.
August was a lovely month full of birthday celebrations, cake and a Shepherd’s hut! It’s been pretty epic.
Here is what we have liked and loved in August.

Birthdays

We celebrated Craig’s 41st birthday which was lovely. I baked him a chocolate fudge birthday cake and he opened all of his presents. We then went to Devon to continue with the celebrations and we had a fantastic time.

Craig is so much better at baking cakes than me, so he had to make do with mine. It tasted really nice though.

Devon

We’ve not long come back from our trip to Devon for Craig’s birthday. We stayed on a lovely Yurt site in a super cosy shepherd’s hut thanks to Buyagift! We had the best time and the kids loved it. The owner Liz was so lovely, she went above and beyond to make our stay an enjoyable one.
I will be sharing a blog all about it soon.

*Stationery

New term, new stationery! We get through so many pens and pencils with our homeschooling, I always like to refresh our stash. I absolutely love this gorgeous Peter Rabbit stationery range from Beatrix Potter Gifts By Enesco.
The pencil case is made from canvas and has ample room inside, it’s great value. You can get pretty pens to match with cute little charms on top.
There are also notebooks, water bottles, glasses cases, lunch boxes and pretty much everything else you need to settle back into school/home schooling.

Flowers

The flowers have been so pretty in the garden this year, especially my dahlias. They are starting to fade a little now, but they have given a fantastic show all summer. Now to look forward to shades of orange and red as autumn creeps in.

*OGGS bites

If you haven’t discovered OGGS yet then you need to! They have a huge range of vegan-friendly plant-based treat range.

They have a new range of bakery treats that are absolutely amazing! OGGs bites are low in calories and everyone thinks that they taste fantastic! We have tried the brownie bites and millionaire bites. My personal preference is the millionaire bites, they are so good. You get nine in each bag and even the packaging is planet-friendly.

National Train Museum

Both of our boys love trains so we had an afternoon at the National Train Museum York. Entry is free but you have to pre-book on the website.
Some of the exhibits were closed due to COVID, but we had a nice time there all the same.

*Footner

I’ve tried Footner exfoliating socks before, but I was that impressed with the results I’m using them again.
You simply pop on the ready-to-wear plastic socks and close them around your ankles using the adhesive strips. You keep them on for 60 minutes and that’s it. Over the upcoming days your feet start to peel, getting rid of the dead skin. It’s a bit gross but I’m weird and find it quite satisfying picking it off!
After the process feet are left feeling super soft!

*Reading Eggs Workbooks

We used Reading Eggs and Mathseeds for quite some time when Jayden was younger. They are both great online educational resources for home educators and school pupils. We have recently been sent the new Skills for Reception workbooks and they are fab. Anything that helps your child’s education gets a big thumbs up from us.

Both of the Maths Seeds and Reading Eggs books are broken down into just 15-minute lessons so that children don’t get bored. The illustrations are fun and make each lesson interesting.

  1. Wow that yurt looks amazing, looks like such a wonderful experience. My girls loved the reading eggs app I didn’t realise they do workbooks too.

  2. Looks like a really great month! The railway museum looks fun – we’ve actually visited a railway museum today, but only a teeny tiny one, in Tenterden. It was still good though! Your flowers look beautiful, and I like the look of those Reading Eggs/Math Seeds work books too x #MMBC
