As we head towards September that means it’s time for another Likes and Loves monthly round-up. I can’t believe August is almost out already, time is flying by this year! August was a fab month for us. We’ve enjoyed the summer holidays and many lovely days out, but now we are getting ready to get back into our homeschooling and start a new term.
Summer may be almost done, but autumn is one of my favourite seasons so I am ready for the transition!
Here are our likes and loves for August.

*Refreshing Italian Wine

If you like your wine, Independent Wine has a fantastic range of delicious Italian wines to choose from. We have recently been sent La Breccia and if you enjoy a dry white then this is for you!
La Breccia – ‘Tropical and vibrant Sauvignon Blanc from Jesi made on the skins with cryo-maceration. Aromas of guava, lime, gooseberry, daffodil and lemongrass’.
This tropical, citrusy and herbal wine is made by Montecappone – experts in hyper-reduction (without oxygen) winemaking. Montecappone’s Verdicchio wines have won an incredible number of awards across Italy. This wine showcases their mastery of Sauvignon Blanc. Grapes are planted on a south-sloping hill just behind the Montecappone winery, near the town of Jesi.

Baking

We all love baking and cooking in our house and we try to get the kids involved as much as possible. I love cooking little treats with puff pastry like homemade sausage rolls and cheese and bacon turnovers. We tried some cheesy marmite swirls and they went down a storm. Jayden is firmly in the Marmite hater camp and even he said they were pretty good!

*Eco-Friendly Packed Lunches

Anything that plays a part in beating the war on plastic consumption, count me in! WaxWrap are a sustainable re-useable beeswax wrap designed to keep food super fresh. They are a fantastic way to banish clingfilm and they are so much more eco-friendly.

What we love about WaxWrap-

  • Reusable
  • Non-toxic
  • Super malleable to suit different foods whilst keeping its rigidity and shape
  • They look so pretty! Making lunchtime fun
  • A great start to a zero-waste lifestyle

Birthday Celebrations

This one had a birthday and it has been a blast. Craig managed to book himself some well-deserved time off to enjoy the birthday celebrations.
We went out out for a birthday lunch at one of our favourite country pubs and it was absolutely amazing!
I had chicken leek and ham pie with chunky chips and broccoli and Craig had steak with chunky chips, rocket salad and onion rings. It was so nice!

*PC Gaming

The fate of Metropolis is in the paws of DC’s iconic Super-Pets Krypto and Ace as they set off on a new high-flying adventure to take on Superman’s arch-nemesis, Lex Luthor. Using his vast intellect and resources, Lex has hatched a plan to capture the stray animals around the city, and it’s up to you to put a stop to him!

The new DC League Of Super Pets: The Adventures Of Krypto And Ace 3D on-rails action game is based on the upcoming animated film, DC League of Super Pets.
My boys really enjoy playing this game. It’s simple to navigate, the graphics are colourful and fun and the storyline is exciting for kids to follow along too. Such a fab game for all ages!
