We have been massive fans of Learning Resources for years. As a home schooling family, we are always on the lookout to get games and gadgets that we can incorporate into our learning. Whenever we introduce a new subject, we always check learning resources to see what kits they have to offer.

We are also great advocates of STEM resources, STEM is such an important part of education and as more emphasis is being placed on it, more and more resources are becoming available. We have already introduced our eldest to coding but it was a little too advanced for our 4-year-old. This fantastic Coding Critters playset is a basic introduction to the world of coding and is designed for 4 to 10-year-olds.

The best part of this playset is that it includes everything that you need. No smartphone or tablet is required to program your critters which makes it completely screen-free. You do not need wifi or BlueTooth so it is completely portable.

The playset includes Ranger your coding critter, Zip his little puppy friend, a dog house, a slide, a tree, a fire hydrant, Ranger’s big yellow bone, a ball and a ball launcher. There is also a selection of paw prints that you can use to try and help you determine what code you will need to perform different tasks.

Ranger the dog takes 3 x AA batteries, (not included) and once these are installed, is ready to play with straight out of the box. The playset comes with a beautifully illustrated storybook. When you read the story, each page gives you a small coding challenge that you can then program Ranger to complete.

Code Ranger to fetch his ball or find his beloved big yellow bone. Coding is simple, just press the required arrow buttons on his back and press go in the middle for him to perform the program. Ranger remembers up to 30 command prompts and Joben picked it up in no time at all.
