We do love a picnic. Whether it be by the canal, a park or in the garden, I just love the opportunity to relax and spend some quality time with my little gang.
We’ve recently partnered up with Smash and the timing couldn’t be more perfect because they offer the most beautiful lunch boxes and drinking bottles, that are ideal to take along on a picnic or for returning to school.
Smash are kindly giving away a gorgeous bundle of lunch boxes to one lucky reader! So stay tuned until the end of the post.

With that said, here are 5 reasons why we love to have a picnic.

Family Time

Picnics are brilliant for bringing everyone together. Family life can be hectic and time can soon be taken up by endless jobs, I know mine is! It’s so nice to just take some time out with the family and shut off from everything else. When we sit down with our picnic, there are no distractions like there are in the home and everyone joins in with the conversation.

2. Enjoying Nature

We never need a reason to enjoy the outdoors. Obviously we are more cautious at the moment with the current circumstances, but saying that, we ‘re looking forward to using our  National Trust Membership again and sitting in beautiful grounds enjoying our picnic. It’s a real treat.

3 Good For Your Health

Being able to top up with vitamin D is another great benefit to having a picnic and not only that, it’s good for exercise too. We often take a few games along to play with the kids such as a bat and ball or boules.

4. An Inexpensive Day Out

I love how you can go on a picnic, the kids have fun and it doesn’t cost a thing. The chances are you have everything you need to take along. It’s not about having to spend hundreds of pounds on days out, it’s about making memories. I know that when my kids fly the nest, they will remember all of the fun times Craig and I shared with them.

5. Reduces Stress

I’ve always said that the outdoors and nature is good for the soul. I, like many others, work from home and as a rule, I do more hours now than I did when I was employed. It’s so much easier to do an extra half an hour which turns into 2-3 hours. So getting outside is my stress reliever after a busy day.
I couldn’t think of a better way to unwind other than to pack a few snacks and head off for a picnic with my boys.

The fabulous lunch range featured is available exclusive to Tesco stores from this month. All of these products have Smash’s Blue IQ insulated lining which not only wipes clean easily, it also inhibits antimicrobial growth. This, in turn, eliminates mould, mildew and bacteria.
