There’s something about changing into pyjamas at the end of the day that never really loses its appeal, no matter how old you are.
I’ve always been all about my comforts and honestly love nothing more than getting into my pyjamas at the end of a long day. It’s that little signal that work is done, the house is calmer, and I can finally switch off for the evening. Over the years, both of my boys seem to have picked up the same ritual, which I absolutely love.
Lately, I’ve noticed it even more with my teenage son. The minute he’s finished whatever he’s doing for the day, whether that’s studying, gaming or hanging out with his brother, the first thing he does is get comfortable And honestly, I’m completely with him.
Teenagers seem to spend so much of their lives switched on these days. There’s always noise in the background somewhere. Phones buzzing, YouTube videos playing, gaming with friends online, revision… even downtime doesn’t always feel properly relaxing anymore.

For my son, gaming has always been one of the ways he switches off. Like the rest of our family, he loves relaxing in the evenings, chatting with friends online or chilling on the sofa with his Steam Deck, just disappearing into his own little world for a couple of hours. And honestly, I think that’s something a lot of teenagers need more than we probably realise, a way to properly decompress after the day and switch their brains off for a while.

I think teenage boys especially can struggle to fully slow down sometimes. Even when they’re relaxing, their minds still seem to be racing. That’s why I think little routines matter more than we probably give them credit for.

For my son, one of those routines is changing into comfortable pyjamas from British Boxers, long before bedtime. So making sure our pyjamas and lounge-wear are as comfortable as possible is non-negotiable!
That’s one of the reasons we’ve become fans of softer bamboo fabrics lately. They’re lightweight, breathable and great quality without feeling too heavy or restrictive, especially for teenagers who somehow manage to claim they’re freezing while sitting in a bedroom hot enough to melt candles, surrounded by glowing gaming monitors and wrapped tightly in a duvet like a burrito.

Good pyjamas might seem like a small thing, but I honestly think those little comforts matter.
Home should feel comfortable. Teenagers should feel able to properly switch off and take time for themselves. And if changing into some lush nightwear helps create that little sense of calm at the end of the day, then I’m all for it.
