This week we have been very excited to have been trying out Qixels Kingdom Castle Play Set from Character Online. Qixels are colourful cubes that fuse together with a spray of water, enabling little ones to build their very own pixelated characters to play with in their kingdom.
First we assembled the castle which was super easy with the interlocking pieces.
We then prepared the plastic trays that we would be using to fit the cubes too. You get the choice of 6 characters to create.
How To Make Your Qixel Characters
When you have decided which character you are going to make, each template is double sided. Place it facing against the plastic, flip it over so you can see your character through the spiky tray, and then put the tray with holes on top. You are now ready to put on the coloured cubes according to the template you are following.
Once all of the cubes are in place, you spray them with water giving them a generous covering (recommended 25 sprays at least). Then slightly tilt the cube for the excess water to drain and then leave to dry for 30 minutes.
When your cubes are dry, gently pull the top tray off the bottom tray to release your finished creation.
Jayden enjoyed playing with his Qixels kingdom. It made it even more fun that he had to create the characters himself. Overall it gets a big thumbs up for us, and for only £29.99 I feel that it is good value too.

What a fabulous idea! I love that these fuse together with water rather than having to be ironed like Hama beads. I also like that they make up into real toy models which can be played with – a bit like real-life Minecraft! We’ve made Hama bead models before but then wonder what to do with them.
This looks like so much fun and great for children’s fine motor skills too 🙂
This looks like the perfect activity for half term. A creative toy with a sense of adventure, what could be better. With the sense of magic, it all seems rather exciting.
