Since having the boys we don’t really go out for Valentine’s Day. It is much easier for us to have a date night in and to be honest, we actually prefer it!
I’m quite looking forward to a nice treat night for us and here are just a few date night at home ideas for Valentine’s Day that you could try.

Gift Swap

You can’t go wrong with a box of chocolates, it’s something you can both share. You could even have them personalised to make them an extra special present.

I collect the Willow Tree range and Craig has treated me to so many over the years. Gift Giving All Wrapped Up have so many lovely figurines and other gorgeous gift ideas for every occasion. They also have a wonderful selection of Disney figures for people who can’t get enough of all things Disney!

Fragrances make a lovely gift and I often treat my husband to an aftershave. Scentsational have loads of fab gift ideas. They have all of the popular brands on their online store. You can choose from haircare products, fragrances, cosmetics, skincare and much more!

An Extra Special Gift That Gives Back

If you are a regular on my blog then you will know my husband has had a heart transplant. We love to help charities that are close to our heart and one of those is the British Heart Foundation. A gift I am getting Craig this year is to have Craig’s name engraved on the Heart of Steel.
For a donation as little as £20 you can have a loved one’s name engraved forever on the wonderful sculpture and receive a certificate to celebrate.

A Meal For Two

We always take advantage of the meal deals for Valentine’s. Most supermarkets do them but our favourite would most probably be Waitrose, although I can vouch that Tesco and M&S do a lovely selection too!
You normally get a main, side, dessert and a bottle of wine or pop.

Games Night

This might not be for everyone but Craig and I love gaming. As a family, we all love playing board games but Craig and I love PS4 gaming. We often have an hour together on our favourite online game. It’s a nice way to spend some time together doing something we both enjoy.

Movie Night

Another one of our favourite things to do is find a really good series to binge-watch. I normally get some of our favourite sweets and we get all comfy on the sofa and enjoy some TV.

You could even give a favour card and let the other half have control of the remote! Or not hehe.

Do you celebrate Valentine’s Day? Or maybe you feel it’s too commercialised?

  1. Fab ideas! I think we might actually be going out for a meal for Valentine’s Day for the first time ever. lol
The Heart of Steel one is really special. What a special gift. x

  2. Feel its over commercialised – we tend to have an evening of fun with all the family – takeaway chocs and games

  3. My husband & I do not celebrate Valentine’s Day. I can’t remember exactly when we decided not to, but it was early in our marriage when we wanted to save up for a house deposit and so eliminated all unnecessary expenditure, which included gifts to each other. We don’t give each other birthday or Christmas gifts either, and haven’t done for years.

  4. Love valentine’s, any theme, especially one focused on love, is worth celebrating just for the fun of it

  5. I’ve never been a fan of valentines – I show the misses that I love her by treating her throughout the year – it’s an over commercialised event!

  6. Love the date night ideas. Like you we don’t get to go out much now that we have a toddler but I don’t think I could be particularly bothered now! Too much hassle 😂. A name engraved on the heart of steel is a lovely idea. It would make a very special gift as well as helping a good cause. We don’t have a Waitrose up here so don’t know how their Dine in Deals are but I do love a M & S one! Have a lovely Valentines when it comes xx

  7. We usually do a meal deal from m and s as it’s always too busy and I really want some peace and quiet 😂

  8. Games night and movie night are great ideas for a cheap and cheerful date night! I love doing fun things at home

  9. We buy each other cards and something small like chocolates but don’t go for the overly expensive gifts as we treat each other to thoughtful gifts and favours throughout the year. I do think Valentines is good to remind you to make time for each other but you don’t need to spend fortunes to do that.

  10. Some great ideas here but it doesn’t have to be Valentines to treat your OH or show you care
