Making Memories With The Kids You’ll Be Glad To Display

We all love to help our children explore their creativity, to show off their individualism, and to make their mark. However, if we’re being completely honest, rarely do they make high art that we would love to show off. It might tug on our heartstrings, but if you want to be able to hang up in the living room, you need to try a little harder.

Here, we’re going to look at creative and crafty activities you can get up to with your kids that can result in creations that you will be much, much prouder to show off.

Show off their little masterpieces

Not everything that your kids create has to be every bit as masterful as a Van Gogh watercolour, of course. Hanging your kids’ art is a great way of inspiring them to do even more and to encourage their creative and playful minds in exploring new interests. However, you can help make it look even better by finding the right ways to hang it. For instance, you can frame pieces of their art individually, you can create a collage of a bunch of pieces they have done together, or you can even create a rotating wall of creativity with a farmhouse-style display that you can easily clip and unclip pieces on.

A moment of time

The transcience of time with our kids is one sensation that you might feel regularly as a parent and one that can be surprisingly overwhelming even if it’s your twentieth time feeling it. They’re not going to stay this little forever. Relationships and dynamics in the family are going to change and evolve and, while this is a good thing, it can make us miss the simpler times. So, why not create a reminder of what those times are like? A family hand casting kit, whether it’s something as simple as handprints in clay or something a lot more elaborate, can help you cement a moment in time by capturing a glimpse of everyone as they are right now, preserving it for the future.

Celebrating the best of times

A family makes a lot of memories over the years. Birthdays, Christmas days, parties, vacations, trips to the beach, and simply playing around the home can all become some of our most precious memories. Many of these will be captured as photos, but a lot of these photos tend to get forgotten on Facebook, nowadays. It’s important to recognize how important these are to us. Go through your photo collection together with your kids and have everyone pick out their favourites. Take a look here to see how you can put them all together. A photo wall display can give those memories pride of place in the home, making your heart swell every time you look at them.

Make a costumed photoshoot

Perhaps you don’t have as many photos of all the family together as you would like, or you would simply like to get the kids involved in trying to capture and create some fun, creative images. You can set up a photoshoot in your own home, using any kinds of play costumes and props you like to set a scene, be it superheroes, fantasy castles, the Wild West, or something entirely different. There are plenty of great photo apps that can get your kids involved behind the camera instead of just in front of it, as well. At the snaps are taken, you can end up with some fun and funny pictures to hang on your wall.
You could even take all of your fun memories over the year and create a lovely photo book for Christmas for all of the family to look through and enjoy.

Keeping the key workers in mind

It’s something that we’re seeing a lot fewer households do, now that we’re so many months into the weird life that is COVID-19 in the year 2020. However, many of us still rely on the key workers who are expected to risk themselves so much more than the average person. Even though some of us might be looking at opening up and going back to work and school over the coming weeks and months, these key workers have been out there that whole time. For that reason, these “Thank You Key Workers” printables that can be coloured in by your kids are just as valuable as ever. Let’s not let the key workers around us be forgotten.

A lot of parents will hang up just about anything their kids produce, simply because it means so much. However, with the examples above, you can be proud of not just the fact that your kids helped make it, but that it’s so beautiful, too.
