As I write this week’s word of the week post I sit at my desk with a hot cup of tea trying to be invisible for an hour or two. It’s been so busy this week, most of my hot drinks have no longer been hot when I’ve come to drink them. You know those kind of days where you meet yourself coming back? That’s pretty much how our week unfolded.
All hands on deck!
We’re finally getting the ball rolling with the decking area in our top garden. We have had so many setbacks with the supplies, mostly down to the current circumstances and lack of stock, but that’s expected and that’s OK. Things are really starting to shape up now though and I’m looking forward to having a nice space to sit and read a book while I watch the boys play.
This picture is just the outer frame we built and placed next to the barn to give us an idea of what it would look like.
It’s a bit of a building site at the minute and we’ve got to screen off the barn at some point too. We’ve since added the leg supports and cross pieces, so the decking will be fitted next.
Drain woes
With that said, just when we thought we were winning on the garden front, the drains started to overflow over the bottom of the garden. It seems the guy who originally fitted the system, did not allow enough space for the water to drain into the fields, so now it has to be dug back up and extended further. Hopefully sooner than later, as we have a marsh at the bottom of the garden where my newly dug borders should be.
All sit down, all sit down
On Thursday we received our long-awaited new sofa. That was scheduled for delivery around 7am so it was an early start making sure the room was totally cleared before the guys came. We ordered this before the first lockdown and I’ve got to say it was well worth the wait! The old one served us well and played it’s part in not only being somewhere for us all to gather, but as a good resource for dens, a trampoline and a safe place to stand on when the floor is lava! So I think it’s fair to say it’s had its day.
No more food in the living room for the foreseeable, but you know what it’s like, give it a few weeks and it will be christened with cheesy wotsit fingerprints and god knows what else stuck under the cushions!
It’s been a hectic week and now I’m ready for the weekend. I’m on strike until at least Monday!

Ugh the drain woes don’t sound like much fun but your sofa looks fab! What a wait, I am glad it was worth it. hahaha! You do right banning food from the living room.

A very hectic week! Your new furniture looks lovely, and the decking will be wonderful in the summer. It’s all worth the hard work in the end.
I’ve had those weeks. Here’s hoping you have more minutes with a cup of tea to relax and gain perspective. My favorite relxing technique is a soak in the tub in the evening, put on PJ’s, and relax for a while in front of the TV. It’s part of my “relaxing to sleep” routine each night. If I skip it, I really miss it. #MBC

It really does sound like a very busy and hectic week. We wanted to start sorting out our garden but couldn’t get things delivered yet. Yay for the new sofas. We need to replace ours we only got them in 2017 but they sound like they have been used just like yours #WotW
