Is summer finally here or not? Since March we seem to have had a couple of good days, quickly followed by torrential rain and storms! It is so difficult to plan summer activities. As soon as there is a glimpse of sunshine, our boys are driving us mad to get either the paddling pool out, the water table or the water slide.
Craig is just as bad with the barbecue! As soon as he spots a decent weekend weather forecast, he is planning a get together with a BBQ. I must admit, we all enjoy the odd barby. The kids like to build their own burgers and its funny to see them trying to get their little mouths around the massive creations. I don’t like having to get the sauce stains out of their clothes so much, but it’s all good fun!

The only downside with having a BBQ is the amount of time you have to spend getting the grill lit and ready to cook on. I know we could get a gas barbecue, but I really don’t think that it tastes the same. Also, Craig is a bit of a BBQ purist and says that we might as well cook the food in the oven and eat it outside! This means that we don’t have many impromptu barbecues. We decided to try a Bar-Be-Quick disposable barbecue the other day. You can pick them up from loads of different stores or Amazon and they are super cheap and disposable so you don’t have to scrub the grill clean afterwards. They are ready to go after 20 minutes of being lit.

We usually make our own burger patties for barbecuing, but we just grabbed some good frozen ones along with some burger buns from the local store and we had a fantastic, quick, low-cost meal in our garden for us four and nanny.

You don’t have to spend a fortune on tableware either. We recently went into Home Bargains and got a few items from their hello summer range. They have plates, cups, cutlery, serving utensils, serviettes, in fact, anything you could want for a barbecue or picnic.

We had a fab afternoon out in the garden with plenty of fun and giggles. We have got another two disposable bbq’s and plan to take one with us on a picnic, and also for the next time we go to the beach.
Do you have a bbq planned?

Looks like everyone had great fun. There is something about eating outside that makes everything taste better. Have a great week! #MMBC
I’m with Craig on the gas v charcoal debate. It is half the fun. We love eating outdoors. Pretty tableware always makes it feel even more special. Enjoy your BBQs and I hope the weather is on your side. #MMBC
No BBQ planned as yet as like you said, the weather is so unpredictable at the moment. We do like using disposable ones though as they are so quick and easy! #MMBC
Looks like you are having the same type of summer we are having in the states. I hope it comes soon! #MMBC
Magical family memory making in action and I love your pictures too. Far more professional than I could manage. My husband likes to do a barbecue but always ends up cooking way too much food! #MMBC
I do love eating outdoors when the sun is shining, it just feels a much more relaxing affair X #mmbc
We’re hosting my daughter’s 5th birthday party next month, this is some great food ideas for us!
I love the Tropic Like Its hot cup. Hilarious! #MMBC
Who doesn’t love a good summer BBQ? Those burgers look delicious, and I’m loving the bright tableware too!
We barbecued on our allotment for the first time this year this weekend – looks like you had fun at yours! #MMBC
Our BBQ heats up pretty quick even though it’s charcoal. We have used these small ones though when we’ve had a BBQ on holiday. I love all the colourful picnic items you can get from Home Bargains. The bright colours make them feel so summery.

I can’t wait until the weather is nice enough for us to get the bbq out. It hasn’t stopped raining for weeks…
We like having family BBQs when the weather is nice and eating outdoors 🙂
I can’t wait to move house to make the most of the garden by having BBQ’s.
It looks like you had a fab time! x
I have often wondered if the disposable bbq’s are any good, I think I’ll try one now.
Great pics, so glad the sun is finally shining! It’s been very hot today in suffolk… definitely BBQ weather!
Who doesn’t love a bbq
Will have to try the disposable bbq.
The disposable bbq’s are great because they are so quick to be ready to use!
