We’ve been back to our second home ‘the lovely Porthmadog’ and had a brilliant time away. We arrived late afternoon, so it was a case of unpacking everything, having something to eat, wash and then chill for the rest of the evening.
The next morning it was straight to the beach.
We are really lucky that the beach is literally just a 2 minute walk away from the park we are on, so its ideal to let the kids wear off some of that energy and enjoy some fresh air.
We were looking at places where we could go for the day and we liked the sound of Sea Zoo over at Anglesey. With Teeny man fast asleep with Grandad, we headed off with Monkey. He is totally obsessed with sealife in general, so this was the perfect opportunity for him to explore without little brother in tow!
It took about 4o minutes to drive from our park to Sea Zoo.
When we arrived it was easy to get parked with ample spaces. It didn’t take to long to queue surprisingly. I normally expect long queues to these kind of places and especially in the holidays. But we went straight through. It cost £6.75 for Monkey, Teeny man was free entry (Under 3’s) and £7.75 for me and Craig.
Luckily there are toilets as soon as you get through the main doors, so saves hearing “I need the toilet” half way round.
Roughly 20 of us went through and were greeted by a tour guide. It was totally up to the individual if they wished to follow the guide or just move on. We listened to a couple of talks and then moved along.
In between tanks were plenty of educational displays with information and facts.

Monkey named most of the sea creatures without having to read the signs.
He loved watching all the bass and bream in the concaved aquarium. I think he had about 200 photos on his iPod of this hehe!
It also has a gift shop. I found that it didn’t really have much memorabilia relating to the zoo, just random items, that you could buy at most shops. There is also a coffee room which we didn’t try, and on exit, a small kids play area outside.
The Sea Zoo was quite fun. It is only small and you can get around in about 45 mins, but I think this is just right, otherwise you may have some bored kiddies on your hands.
On the way back to the park we passed a Strawberry field, so we just had to finish off with some strawberry picking.
Spoilt for choice amongst all those strawberries!
Then back home for strawberries and cream for tea!

It really sounds like you all had a great time away. The beach looks so lovely. I really loved the sound of the sea zoo, and the prices seem pretty good, I always love that these kind of places are free entry for under 3’s. I’m like you, I always expect there to be a lengthy queues but that’s great that you didn’t encounter that.

The sea zoo sounds fun & it sounds a bit different to the usual aquariums – a bit more museum-y stuff thrown in! I loved strawberry picking when I was a kid – we did it every summer! Sounds like a great holiday – and all kids love the beach, don’t they? (Lucy/R is for Hoppit)
