We are so lucky to have such pretty scenery where we live in the countryside and we always make the most of it by going for long walks in the fresh air.

In fact we have been doing lots more walking recently, not only to lose weight but to help keep Craig fit post transplant.

This weekend we decided to try somewhere different and walk along the canals up to the Marina which is almost 2 miles there.

Fresh air along the canals

It’s a lovely walk and it’s surprising how far you go without really realising.

It seems quite a popular route for both walkers and cyclists, although it’s a little bumpy for the buggy as you get further down the canal and it gets rather muddy where the track has plenty of use.

Little man didn’t seem to mind though, he still managed to catch some z’s while Daddy chauffeured.

And of course we always make time to feed the ducks.

Further up there are some properties that back onto the canal I bet it’s so peaceful in the summer come tea time when all of the walkers have gone home. Enjoying a glass or two of something strong whilst chilling in the evening sun. Sounds bliss! Although I would probably have six-foot fences as I’d be terrified the little ones might get out onto the canal bank (Protective Mommy mode kicking in).

It was a nice couple of hours spent and Monkey made friends with every person who passed on a barge, he’s such a social little fella.

I’m so proud of both my little boys. It doesn’t matter where you go, it doesn’t even have to cost a penny. Just simply spending quality time with the family, now that’s priceless.

  1. You do live in a beautiful area. My mum used to live near the canal paths in Nottigham and my boys used to love cycling round them when we stayed!
