Artificial wisdom 1

It’s feeling very autumnal isn’t it?! Chilly winds and consistent downpours give me the perfect excuse to hunker down with a warm blanket, cosy up and get lost in a good book. To say ‘a good book’ simply wouldn’t do my latest read any justice. I’ve just finished Artificial Wisdom by Thomas R. Weaver and it is the most riveting story I have read in a long long time. I was totally absorbed all of the way through. I challenge you to try and put it down once you start it. It is more moreish than cake! (well, almost)

Artificial Wisdom book review 1

Artificial Wisdom By Thomas R. Weaver

In 2050, the earth’s climate is out of control. A heatwave has killed millions across the Persian Gulf, including the wife of journalist Marcus Tully. But he has a lead like no other: that the heatwave was unnaturally diverted by geo-engineering from hitting the USA.

The president who gave the order is now running for an even greater office: dictator of the nation states, with a short-term mandate to make the hard decisions the nations can’t in order to prevent a climate apocalypse.

His final opponent is the world’s first AI politician, Solomon, governor of New Carthage, a floating, domed city-state protecting the elite. Solomon’s creator may have the evidence Tully needs to make his case to the world, but in the middle of the most important election in history, someone will do anything to stop the truth coming out.

The protagonist, Tully, is such a likable character who I instantly connected with. He was truly motivated to get justice for his late wife which made me really root for him throughout. I enjoyed seeing Tully’s colleagues’/friends’ personalities shining through also. The dialogue used between them flowed consistently and was easy to follow. Giving a clear image of the relationships that they held with each other.

The plot was exciting and left me wanting to know more with every turn of the page.
I loved the world-building from Thomas and could clearly imagine the futuristic setting in which this story unfolds. Little touches like consuming the gelatinous liquid in order for the neuro grains to enter his brain! Simply adds to the authenticity. It’s very cutting edge you know!

The suspense and tension comes and goes like the sea. Immersing you with a wave of anticipation and then leaving you high and dry with great trepidation!

Absolutely LOVED Artificial Wisdom and I will certainly be looking out for future books from Thomas. He deserves every success.
