As the sun starts to peak out for the summer once more, you and your family will more than likely want to find places to go for a day out. The good news is that the UK is rich with potential places to go, and we have listed some ideas in this article, so read on to get started.
Going To The Beach
Even in the UK, there will be beaches available to visit. Whether you live on the coast or deep in the midlands, it won’t take you long to get to a beach. While Skegness is the worst seaside town in the UK, it actually has a lot to offer families. Of course, Skegness isn’t the ideal place to visit for all families, but it’s worth a day trip to see what’s going on there and if it could be fun for you.
Beaches are fun for families, as it offers the perfect blend between relaxation and things to do, such as visiting the arcade and building a sandcastle as a family. If your children have never been to a beach before, then it will be a great day out that they will be able to enjoy.
Going On A Nature Adventure
Whether it’s a nice day or not, you will be able to go somewhere out within nature and have a good time. Even if you live in central London, it won’t take you long to be able to find somewhere nice to go for a day out. There are plenty of national parks and green areas to walk in the countryside that are free to visit, apart from parking fees in some cases.
You and your family will be able to walk certain routes in the countryside that have picnic spots with cafes nearby and play areas for children. Some of these national parks will also have museums nearby for you to all visit and enjoy.
Some families like to mix up the walking by adding cycling. At the very least, if the parents aren’t too fussed with doing this themselves, they could get their children a bike, scooter, or even a trike to have fun while being outdoors with mum and dad. Online stores such as Micro provide toddler scooters and can get you the perfect trike that your little one will love and will add to the experience of your trip to the outdoors.
Going To A Theme Park
For families looking for something with a bit more excitement, you could look into visiting a theme park. When you think of theme parks, you’re likely to think of the big ones, such as Alton Towers or Drayton Manor, but there will likely be smaller more local theme parks nearby.
At the very least, there may be a funfair that comes into town around the summer, providing you with something similar to a theme park. If you’re not sure what’s happening around your town or in the surrounding areas, you should do some local research. This will include looking around your local area, hearing word of mouth, and looking online.
There will be specialised theme parks designed for children and babies, so don’t assume that all theme parks have to be intense, thrilling rollercoaster parks. Some theme parks combine the best rides for adults and children, giving something to everyone.
I think we ticked all three boxes this summer. We went to Legoland and Butlins, spent a lot of time in the woods and we went to Menorca where we were almost at the beach every day 😊😊
Lovely ideas
We still go to the beach and nature trails in winter too
