My homemade birthday cake with multicoloured candles that spell Happy Birthday.

Disclosure – Some of the products featured are press samples and I will give the brand a little mention. These will be clearly marked with *.

It’s time for another Likes and Loves and the last one of December can you believe?!
I like to appreciate the little things each month and document them, it’s just nice to have a little enjoyment whilst we are all going through it with the pandemic and other challenges that life throws our way.
So with that said, here is what we have liked and loved in December.

Birthday

My birthday is on Christmas Eve and I had such a lovely day celebrating it with my little clan. Craig baked me a lovely cake and I had so many beautiful gifts. I was truly spoilt with a pair of Dyson hair straighteners, money, pandora jewellery, Ugg slippers, beautiful flowers from my lovely friend Kim at Life As Kim, chocolate, clothes and more.
My best part of the day was having a long soak in the bath with nobody wanting to come in for a poo or a general natter! It’s the little things isn’t it?!

Christmas time with family

We had a super quiet Christmas and it was so lovely. Craig and I sat down and worked it out, we haven’t had a family Christmas (just us 4) for almost 11 years! We have always had family stay over every year.
It was so nice to be just us four, where we could lounge about and do what we want. Lots of pyjamas days were had and late nights playing on the PS5!
I hope you had a lovely Christmas, however you chose to spend it.

*New dental products

I have recently discovered a brand called Glo32 and I’m really liking their products so far.
First up is the new Glo32 Whitening Toothpaste With Coconut Oil and I am quite impressed. It whitens your teeth by gently reducing surface stains and discolouration.
I drink a lot of tea so I generally use a toothpaste with added whitening to help prevent any discolouring alongside regular dentist cleans. I’ve been using Glo32 for over two weeks now and I can definitely see a difference.
Don’t get me wrong, if you are after a super white Rylan smile, then you are better off investing in some good veneers or a professional whitening from your dentist, but if you are after a quick brightening fix then Glo32 is definitely worth a try.
Available at Boots.

Netflix binging

Having some time off over the holidays has given us the chance to catch up on our favourite series and discover some new ones too.
We’ve really been enjoying Maid on Netflix and have got a few more saved to our watch list.
We are fortunate to have Sky Q, Netflix and Prime, so there is always something we can find to watch. But, if you don’t have a Smart TV you can watch all of the best channels on a fire tv stick. You can catch up on all of your favourites with subscriptions to Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+ and much more!
The Fire TV Stick delivers access to fast streaming in full HD. The compact design plugs straight into the HDMI port and is Alexa voice enabled.

The Fire tv stick also allows a normal TV to become a world class karaoke set up with Roxi.
Roxi is a music subscription service that allows you to stream 70 million official music videos. You can get a free karaoke microphone from Roxi, then sing along to over 9000 songs with on screen lyrics. You can even use Roxi for free if you don’t mind the odd advert.

Roxi is great for when you have friends and family round for a little (or a lot) fun and laughter!

Booster

I’m so grateful to have had my COVID booster, especially now Omicron is doing its rounds! Apart from a headache later in the evening, I had no side effects, not even a sore arm.
Again the volunteers and nurses at the station were fantastic, feeling thankful for our amazing NHS.

What have you been enjoying lately?

  1. I’m glad you had a lovely birthday. It sounds like you were spoilt rotten. I’m glad you liked the flowers and hooray for a bath in peace. They are rare!
We had Christmas with just the 4 of us and it was lovely. Having guests is lovely but it is nice to do what we want to do and laze about.
I have used Netflix a lot over the past month. I’ve been rewatching Glee and lots of Christmas films. Maid was brilliant and Becky got a Fire Stick for Christmas so she’s making good use of that.
Hooray for the booster. Becky and me both had ours on Wednesday and we just felt tired and had a sore arm which has just about gone now. Phew, just in time for a few drinks to celebrate the new year.
Happy new year, wishing you all the best for 2022. x

  2. Happy beleated birthday! I love that beautiful cake. It must have been hard as a child with a Christmmas eve birthday. My oldest nephew was born on Christmas. He always resented the fact that he couldn’t have a party on his actual birthday as kids wouldn’t come. He said it was too hard to compete with Jesus. It sounds like you had a delightful day with your family. You can’t beat that! #MMBC

  3. So glad you had a wonderful birthday! I don’t think we have ever spent Christmas alone with just our family. We do open gifts early in the morning with just us 5 but then the majority of the day is spent with family. My husband and I both have families very close by and with step parents and siblings the families can feel quite large so we stretch our celebrating out over the course of a few days.
