If you pop by regularly then you will know that we are busy revamping our home. The cottage that we are in was a little worn down and neglected when we moved here, so we have been doing a little bit at a time to brighten up the rooms again. The bathroom renovation went really well and we then moved on to our bedroom which was in desperate need of a makeover.

Painting The Walls

Our room was a really dark cream/sandy colour. I wanted something that would really open the room up so we sat down and checked out the huge selection of colours on Valspar’s website. You can see all of the colours in store but it was nice to take our time to make sure that we had chosen the perfect colour for us. We decided onto go with Valspar Morning Breeze in a semi sheen finish, which is between silk and matt. We went to our local B&Q which had a Valspar mixing station and had our paint and primer mixed while we waited. We were advised to use a primer to get the best results and having never used primer with emulsion before, I was excited to see what the difference would be. Even the primer was tinted to achieve the exact colour we chose. You can get literally any colour you need. Let’s say you really like the colour of something at home, whether that be a vase or a piece of material, Valspar can match it with their mixing machine technology. We received a friendly, helpful and professional service and wouldn’t hesitate to use it again.

When applying the primer, I instantly noticed just how thick it was. This made a brilliant base for the paint to adhere to. It took two top coats to give complete coverage, but that isn’t really surprising as the original colour we were covering was so dark compared to what we chose.

Once the paint had dried overnight, the finish was absolutely amazing! The walls look flawless and the semi sheen is a perfect compromise. The paint is extremely durable and can be cleaned using a sponge and water to get any marks off the walls. I am over the moon with how it turned out and will certainly be using Valspar for any other makeovers that we work on.

Flooring

I can’t sing enough praises for Quick-step flooring. Having used it in our bathroom renovation and being so pleased with it, we now have it in our bedroom too! We chose soft oak grey wooden flooring from the Impressive range. The flooring installation was super easy and I love love love how it looks! They have so many different styles and colours to choose from, all serve their own purposes for each room in the home.

Harmony Stone White Finish Kingsize Bed Frame

A bedroom makeover really isn’t a bedroom makeover without a new bed hey?! This beautiful Harmony bedframe was provided by Happy Beds, the fastest growing bed store in the U.K. We chose the bed, delivery was arranged and the delivery was hassle free, they would even carry the new bed into our bedroom for us. The bed was packed safely and securely in two separate boxes with easy to follow instructions. The sprung slats are individually placed into little pockets to provide firm support for your mattress. I would say the whole thing took roughly 1 hour 30 minutes to put together, so what you would expect really with furniture of this size.

I absolutely love the huge shaker style headboard and the matching footboard. It gives a really nice contemporary feel to the room.

The frame is sturdy and obviously built to stand the test of time.

Accessories

We have some beautiful accessories from Wax Lyrical. I was introduced to this brand a couple of weeks ago, and if you are into candles and home fragrances like me, then you are going to love these guys! They create all of their own fragrances from their base in the beautiful lake district.

I love diffusers and Wax Lyrical allow you to create your own perfect reed diffuser. You choose your vase, reeds and then refills. Upon seeing that they had sweet pea (my favourite smell in the garden) amongst their range I just had to have it! The beautiful white cloud vase is so pretty and the Sweet Pea diffuser refill smells absolutely amazing! They have an enormous selection of fragrances with something for every room in your home.

I love our little initial candles and they are great value! Not only do these look fab at home but I think they would make a fab gift for anniversaries and newlyweds. You can break up the letters using a choice of symbols such as ‘&’, a star and a heart.

Finally, we have my Desenio wall! I love my rainforest leaf prints, they go perfectly with my tropical bedding set. I think the quirky lollipop and cactus prints are my favourite, they are fun and colourful, just like our new look bedroom!

Is there anything that you like? Do you have any plans for a home project?
