So you want a new kitchen and you think it’s an easy thing to decide until you actually get down to it and find there’s so much choice you feel pretty overwhelmed, so much so you might not end up getting anything new and just sticking with what you have.
That would be a shame because a new kitchen can do so much to improve your home and make you feel good, especially when you consider what an important room the kitchen is – it’s where you cook, chat, and even make memories. So with that in mind, let’s take a look at how to choose the right kitchen style to make your decision an easier one, read on to find out more.
Modern Kitchen
It could be that a modern kitchen is the right choice for you, and if you’re a fan of clean lines, minimalism, and the latest technology, it’s definitely something that can fit the bill. Modern kitchens are all about sleek, simple designs from the lighting to the cabinet handles and even the flooring, so that’s what you’ll need to make sure you get if modern is the aesthetic that you like best. And something else to remember is that a modern kitchen is very much about being practical, so laying things out in the right way is crucial when it comes to this design style.
The key thing to think about for your modern kitchen is that less is more, so you’ll need to ensure your countertops are clutter-free, you’ve got integrated appliances where possible, and that there’s plenty of storage to help keep things neat and tidy – get that right, and your kitchen will look and feel great.
Traditional Kitchen
On the opposite side of the coin is the idea of a traditional kitchen, and those who like classic details and elegance might like this idea best. Traditional kitchens need to have plenty of warmth and charm, and a good way to ensure you get that look and feeling is to choose wooden cabinets and warm tones for your walls and flooring and stay away from monochrome styles as they’ll make things feel cooler and that’s not what you’re trying to achieve.
You can really mix and match materials in a traditional kitchen as well, and that can actually improve how things look, so try things like natural stone countertops mixed with tiles and wood, for example. The final result should be a cozy, lived-in kitchen that’s ideal if you love to entertain and cook together.
Rustic Kitchen
If you love the idea of bringing the outdoors in, then it could be that a rustic style kitchen is the right choice for you – they can look stunning and be wonderful places to spend time, so it’s certainly something to think about.
Rustic kitchens should use a lot of natural materials like wood, stone, and marble, and there needs to be a natural color palette too. Think about having exposed wooden beams and using reclaimed materials to make your cabinets or seating, and you’ll start to get the idea of what the kitchen could look like. Then add some extra elements like farmhouse sinks and open shelving, and you’ll get the homey, relaxed atmosphere of a gorgeous rustic kitchen.
Oh, my. The kitchen in the photo at the top of the post looks stunning. Modern appeals to me but I have fairly eclectic taste.
Yes, it is a bit tricky to choose styles and colours when it comes down to it but how exciting it would be get underway with a plan.
