A tv, popcorn and remote control

We are always on the lookout for something good to watch on TV. there is nothing worse than getting into a box set and realising you only have one episode left until the end of the series! It’s been a while since I did a round-up of what we have been watching so here they are –

Black Summer

Heard good reviews about this so gave it a try, binge-watched the whole season in two sittings! A pandemic has swept across America and the infected are turned into zombie-like flesh-eating maniacs. Forget walkers though, the zombies in this are more like olympic sprinters! Follow a handful of characters as their stories intertwine while they try to make it to the safety of the stadium. Keeps you well and truly on the edge of your seat and we really can’t wait for season 2.

Lucky Man

This is one we have had in our watch list for some time but never watched. James Nesbitt is a London murder inspector with a gambling habit and a massive debt. One night he is given an ancient bracelet which gives him the ability to control luck. The only problem is, each time he uses the bracelet, he is dealt a blow of bad luck to compensate for the good luck he has had. Good, light-hearted fun that is easy to follow.

The Punisher S2

Awesome, awesome and a little more awesome! We did watch this a couple of months back, but it’s so worth a  mention. Based on the movie The Punisher shows Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) getting his much-waited revenge on those who played a part in his family’s murders.

Walking Dead Season 8

I liked this season much more than 7. I feel a lot more went on. Season 7 seemed to drag out a little for me and didn’t leave me wanting to watch more. The last episode of season 8 was bloody brilliant and totally didn’t expect what happened. Roll on next season!

Mayans

If you enjoyed Sons of Anarchy then I reckon you will love this too. To be honest, I was unsure whether or not this would be any good, as I thought I would naturally compare it to S.O.A, but we loved this. You will even recognise some of the characters from S.O.A which was a nice twist.

something good to watch on TV. The Mayans TV series.

Movies we have watched

Skyscraper

Dwayne Johnson saves the world,,,,,again. The Rock, stars as a safety consultant who has to certify the worlds most advanced skyscraper safe before it can be opened. He takes his family with him for the trip, however, terrorists try to destroy the skyscraper. Unfortunately Dwayne Johnsons family are inside and he is locked out, so he has to try to get in to help get his family out. Not the best film he has ever starred in and the story was not really that interesting. It felt a lot like a modern version of Die Hard but a little more predictable. Really good effects at times though, especially when he is jumping from tower cranes hundreds of feet in the air.

Upgraded

This is based in the future where nearly everything is controlled by tech. (Not much different to now really is it?!) Gray Trace played by is left paralyzed after being mugged and later on is invited to have an implant called STEM that promises to give his quality of life back. He might have his ability to walk again but things don’t pan out quite how he had planned.

Breaking In

Shaun Russel takes her son and daughter on a breakaway at her late father’s house, whilst she sorts out the estate and prepares to sell the house. Unknown to them there are four bad guys already inside and they want something in the house.
We really enjoyed this and think it’s definitely worth a watch.

I See You

If you don’t want to waste 86 minutes of your life then probably best not to bother with this. A guy rents this massive holiday home out but it transpires that he is a bit of a pervy Pete. Let’s just say, cameras, a strange looking dude and me and Craig sitting through it saying “What the f@*! are we watching!”.

Patrick

Another one that we watched with the boys on our Sunday movie afternoon. Patrick the Pug is a little trouble maker and gets up to all sorts of mischief, but you can’t help but like the lovable rogue. It’s a fun movie for all of the family and now my boys are wanting a Patrick the Pug!
