Things To See And Do In Suffolk

We love getting around our beautiful country and exploring. We all live such busy lives that whenever we get the opportunity to take a short break, we seize it with both hands. We always make an itinerary before we go anywhere, it helps to research a few places before we depart which saves us time when we are there. We are looking at spending a little time in Suffolk in the near future and have decided to share with you some of our chosen places to visit while we are there.
 

Places for history

We regularly visit national trust properties and gardens. We all enjoy learning a little about the past so I have been looking for a few historical buildings to check out while we are in Suffolk. The greatest thing about having some historical buildings on your itinerary, if it rains, you still have plenty to see and do. The Church of St Peter and St Paul in Lavenham is renowned for its stained glass, wood carvings and gardens. There is a National Trust property at Flatford with an exhibition for John Constable. There are several exhibits, buildings, a lock and a dry dock. You can tour Bridge Cottage and even hire a rowboat for a couple of hours.
 

Family entertainment

Christchurch Park in Ipswich is 70 acres of rolling woods and perfect lawns. Christchurch Mansion is situated within the park and houses an art exhibition and a public museum. Also in Ipswich is the Transport museum. Home to over 100 vehicles, there is something for everyone. Be it Lorries, busses, cars motorbikes even cranes and forklift trucks. There is also a little bit of history about Ipswich and is well worth a visit. Baylham house farm is a small farm that specialises in breeding rare livestock. There are sheep, goats pigs chickens and even bunnies for children to meet and feed.
 

Accommodation

We like to stay in a self-catering cottage whenever we travel. This gives us the flexibility to enjoy various local cuisines while we are out exploring, and also gives us the freedom to return to our accommodation whenever we like. All while giving us the space to relax as a family.
