We are all bookworms in our family and even teeny man who has recently turned one is showing a huge interest in books, so we were delighted when asked if we would like to review ” The Great Big Sleep” by Sean Julian.
In this beautiful new picture book, two friends Squirrel and Bear are very nearly ready for their long winter sleep. But there’s just one problem, no matter how hard Squirrel tries, he just isn’t tired. When Bear gets annoyed with Squirrel for making too much noise, Squirrel runs away and gets lost in the snow, causing Bear to have a big think about what’s really important.
Containing gentle messages about friendship, acceptance and keeping your temper, this hilarious bedtime tale highlights an issue recognisable to parents and children alike – how to manage when you really CAN’T fall asleep!
The book has a lovely heart warming story line and illustrated beautifully.
I read this story to Monkey and Teeny man after bath time.
It captured the boys attention and kept them engaged throughout, well as much as you can expect from a curious one year old who was briefly wrestling with his brother!
This would be perfect to read before an afternoon nap or to cosy up to at bedtime.
You can grab yourself a paperback copy for a very reasonable £6.99 at Amazon.
*I received this book free of charge for the purpose of this review. All thoughts and opinions are my own*
