As a family, we love getting outdoors, no matter what the weather may be doing. My eldest is definitely an outdoors kid. Don’t get me wrong, he loves his technology and will quite happily play on his Switch or Ipad for hours on end, but he loves playing outside. I used to be exactly the same when I was a kid. I used to spend hours riding around our street on my bike. Jayden has mastered his bike, he has scooted more miles than I can remember and now he loves skateboarding.

I love it when he finds something he really likes to do. My purse not so much! When we were young it was a case of choosing a skateboard you liked and off you go! Now it’s all about the protective gear, tools, grip cleaners, funky wheels and more. Apparently, we have got to have new trainers too, these are a must.

I have seen some really reasonably priced ramps that I think I might get for him to play on. Living in the sticks means we don’t have much of an area or a street to practice on like we did as kids. We do have quite a long path around the house and a small paved area to the back, so the ramp will be ideal to pop on there. I have also found some skateparks only a short drive away, so when he feels confident enough we can go and spend some time on there. I will probably be the overprotective mother, cringing away in the background, telling him to be careful. And he will most probably just turn around, roll his eyes and smile. My little skater boy!

Do your little ones have a favourite pastime?

Love the photos! My boy is still a little too young for a skateboard but I’m pretty sure he will want one soon enough #MMBC
Thanks Sarah ? I am sure he will!
hehehe! He sounds such a daredevil. What a cutie he is.
My two got skateboards a couple of Christmases ago and I couldn’t look while they were on them. They terrified me.
Aww I remember my brothers skating when we were children – a long with wearing the very flared ripped jeans! 🙂
I love this. My daughter really wants to try skateboarding at the moment she is trying to crack the roller skating but I think some kids just love being on wheels!
Oh i remember my skateboard and you are so right back then we used to ride on them without any protection which often resulted in a lot of scraped knees and elbows ? i love your photos and you can see how happy your son is
Skateboards are great fun – not sure how mine would be on one. I teach kids yoga so my kids really enjoy doing that.
My kids enjoy the outdoors most of the time. Especially in the summer.
Ahh bless him. Good idea getting a ramp at home so he can practice before the bigger skate parks.
My son used to like skateboarding. We had a few ramps too and they worked really well for him. The girls really love their scooters. It’s good they have things that they enjoy that get them outdoors
Hi Jayne, how fab that Jayden .oves his skateboard. I thought it was a dying ‘art’. We were always playing outside as children, but skateboarding is something I never, ever got the hang of. We lived on a hill and I found even our driveway to be too much for me. I love your photos. I can see you now following behind him peeping through your fingers not wanting to look!
xx
Awww such a sweet thing for you to do. My loves everything and anything with wheels but is still struggling with skateboards.
Oh he is sweet! Pickle does love his scooter but he needs a bit more practice! Kaz
I look forward to my little one getting older and starting to show interest in New activities. Right now he is obsessed with being outdoors, no matter the weather as well. I would love him to get into skateboarding.
Bless him. we should allow kids do what they want
