Rain rain go away! What a wet week we have had. It has been constantly pouring down here making it almost impossible to plan anything. After a soggy few days we eventually got a break in the weather and on a whim we headed off to Branston Water Park for a walk.
Branston Water Park Nature Reserve
Branston Water Park was originally a large open cast gravel pit. After closing back in the 1950’s it gradually filled up with water resulting in the 40 acre lake that exists today. The East Staffordshire wildlife site has also been given the green flag award for its quality, safety and cleanliness of the reserve.
Jayden is definitely taking after his mum here. He has started taking his camera with him on days out now and afterwards when we get home, we print off his snaps and stick them in his book of adventures. He then writes a few sentences about his day. It’s fun for him to look back on and he is learning at the same time.
After walking around the reserve we headed back to the car for some food via the canal path. Put your sunglasses on before you look at the white glare reflecting off Craig’s legs haha!
This lovely guy from Scotland was having a natter to the boys as he come past on his narrowboat.
I think we headed back to the car just in time because Joben had the mother of all meltdowns! The day had proved a long one for him and let’s just say the peace and quiet of the park was well and truly broken! Isn’t it a bit shit when your little one has a temper tantrum when you are out. I can feel an instant headache approaching every time. Luckily after a little food and a good nap, Joben was all smiles again. Apart from that little scenario, we had a fab day. Jayden got some lovely snaps and the boys were well and truly ready for their beds that night.
It’s definitely worth a walk around the reserve if you are not far away. Entry is free and there is also a little cafe on site and a small play area nearby too.

What a lovely walk! We are fortunate to live just down the way from Bushy Park and the River Thames so are spoilt for choice when it comes to scenic walks!

Looks like a great place to walk around. Good you were in the car before the meltdown began. I am always worried about meltdowns when out with the kids. Can’t predict sometimes.

Getting outside and enjoying nature was one of our main plans for a slightly budget summer holidays, but sadly the weather has had other ideas! This look like a lovely place to wander, and I love how your little boy is capturing with his camera also.
