Pets Alive Mama Duck and Baby Surprise Review

Finding toys that keep the kids entertained without needing a million batteries or hours of setup can sometimes feel like a challenge. So when something simple, fun, and a little bit different comes along, we’re all for it. We’ve been trying out the Pets Alive Mama Duck and Baby Surprise Plush Set from ZURU, and I think it’s a lovely playset that kids will just love.

The set comes with a lovely plush Mama Duck who sits proudly on her nest, ready to hatch a surprise. She’s really soft and perfect for cuddling, but also sturdy enough to cope with everyday play. When you press her wing, she sings a little tune.

Inside each egg could be a surprise duckling, yolk slime or some cute stickers. There are four different ducklings to collect, and if you’re lucky, you might even find the rare golden chick. (We didn’t get the golden one this time, but it definitely added a bit of extra excitement to the unboxing!)

One of the clever features the kids loved is that the baby ducklings follow Mama Duck when she moves. She also sings to them as they all waddle along. It’s such a lovely touch and really brings the set to life. It adds another layer of play beyond the initial “hatching” surprise, and will keep kids entertained for ages, creating little adventures for Mama and her ducklings.

Another big win for me is how easy it is to set up. There are no fiddly instructions; you simply add batteries (AA not included) and away you go, which is always a relief when you have an excited child waiting to play.

At £19.99, it feels like good value for money. You get a lovely, interactive toy that’s simple enough for young kids to enjoy without needing lots of supervision or help. It’s a great option for birthdays, treats, or just because.
