One Key Game Review⎥AD – Gifted

We love being part of the Blogger Board Game Club. With the events that are currently going on around the world, finding ways to keep yourself and your family entertained could not be more important. We have recently been playing the game One Key and we really like it!

One Key Age 8 Years+

One Key has a companion app that is available on both iOS and Android. The app is not essential to play, but it does add another dimension to the game. It also removes the need to make notes and set timers.

One Key is for a minimum of two players, but the more the merrier. This game is non-competitive and you all work together to discover the key.

You choose one person to be the Leader. The rest of the group are the travellers. The leader picks the key at random and then takes turns giving clues to the travellers using the clue cards. The key is placed in the sorting area along with ten other exploration cards.

Each turn, the leader selects three clue cards from the top of the pack and places them into the screen. They then establish the link between the key and the clue cards and gives each clue card a token. These tokens are either green for a strong link, amber for a weak link and red for no link. The tokens are hidden from the travellers until they choose one card.

The screen is then turned towards the travellers who then choose which clue card they would like to keep. The token is revealed showing what link it has to the key. The travellers then sort the exploration cards using the clues that they have into three sections, green for a strong link, yellow for weak and red for no link.

Within three minutes the players have to decide which card they would like to remove from play. The Leader then selects another three cards and the game continues. On the second turn, the travellers remove two cards at the end of the turn, the third turn they remove three and on the final turn, four are removed, which leaves the final card and hopefully this one is the key.

If the key is removed from play at any of the other stages, the leader notifies the travellers and the game is lost. If a turn takes more than three minutes, again, the game is lost.

We’ve had great fun playing One Key. It is colourful, has beautiful illustrated playing pieces and has entertained us all whilst we are spending time shielding at home.
