Summer Fun With The Smoby XL Kids’ Slide

Summer is well and truly here and what gorgeous weather we have been having here in Staffordshire. We’ve had endless BBQs with friends and family, splashed around in the paddling pool, played games together and now thanks to Smoby, the boys have this super cool Smoby XL kids slide to play on too!

Assembling the slide

The slide comes in several pieces ready to be assembled. First, we grabbed the instructions which are super easy to follow. They take you through the building process step by step using simple diagrams.
The parts are joined together by chunky plastic nuts and bolt-like parts.
You don’t even have to search the garage or your kitchen junk drawer for a screwdriver because all you need is a 2p coin!

Simply turn the coin to tighten and secure the fittings once in place.

Once put together, this can be used solely as a traditional slide, or add a hosepipe to the enclosed opening to turn this bad boy into a super awesome toboggan!

We have popped the hosepipe onto this on several occasions and the boys absolutely love it! They even add their water mat at the end and go skidding across the lawn, it’s great fun.

What are the dimensions?

The slide is a whopping 2.5 metres long and approximately 1.5 metres high, which I feel is a nice height for little ones.
If we were to get a higher slide, I would fear that it wouldn’t be able to support the weight as well as this one does. This particular model can take the weight of my 6-year-old and 11-year-old boys. It shows no sign of wobbling and remains sturdy as they climb up the ladder.

Our thoughts on the Smoby XL Slide

The first thing that becomes evident when inspecting the slide is just how well-made and durable it is.
The anti-slip steps make it perfect for when using it as a water slide and also if the kids climb up with just their socks on.
Another thing that gets a thumbs up from me is that the slide has been anti-UV treated, so it won’t start to look old and worn with time.
I know this slide will give my boys endless hours of fun for some time to come. Smoby is a brand we are very fond of and we would recommend their slides in a heartbeat!
