Are you thinking about taking your blog to the next level and making an income?
There are more ways than you think to start bringing the money in, here are some to get you started.
Affiliates
You will find the majority of long-term bloggers use affiliates within their content, it can be a good little earner in the long run. Amazon Affiliates is a very popular choice and is really easy to get up and running.
Another fab Affiliates site is Awin. You pay an initial £5.00 to join, however this goes straight back into your earnings, so eventually, you will be able to cash it out when you reach the relevant limit to withdraw.
Monetise Social Media Accounts
You could use your social media channels to earn revenue. For instance, you might want to use Twitter to offer a tweet package to the desired brand, an agreed amount of tweets to be posted over a month.
Or perhaps manage an account for somebody else. Or even host a twitter party for a brand.
You could use Buzzoole to monetise your social media accounts. Simply register and add all of your social media accounts. You get credits for each task which is then converted to Amazon gift cards.
Sponsored posts
When you have been blogging for a little while and secured a good following, then you will see the sponsored post offers slowly coming in. These are a good portion of a pro bloggers earnings. You can of course pitch a brand that you feel would be suitable for your blog and discuss how they could benefit from a collaboration with you.
Always declare that your post is sponsored.
Ad Networks
I think personally Google Adsense is the most popular ad network amongst bloggers. It has an easy sign-up process and a really simple interface to navigate. There are plenty of ads to choose from, you can pick what kind of subjects your ads cover and place them wherever you choose on your blog with the copy and paste link/code provided.
Write an E-Book
Do you have a particular skill of which you are pretty awesome at? Well, why not shout loud and proud, and write a book about it! People love learning about new things especially if it is of their interests. It could be based on photography, crafts, there are endless topics to cover.
Sell Your Own Services
You could charge to be a virtual assistant and assist new bloggers. Perhaps look after social media accounts, write posts etc.
If you are a bit of a whizz kid with graphics and layouts, then perhaps design peoples headers or blog templates.
Starting a blog is certainly not a get rich quick scheme, it takes years to get an established blog that has the potential to earn a decent income. It also takes a lot of time, dedication, oh and coffee! (plenty of it!)

Hi Jayne, I’m at a point now where I would like to monetize my blog, but still I’m hesitant to put ads on my blog (I had them, but took them off). I would also like to start approaching brands, but then I look at my social media followings and think I should work on them more first. I have had brands approach me, but they usually haven’t really checked out my blog and just wouldn’t fit… Maybe I must just stop mating excuses and grab the bull by the horn!… The next blue moon maybe!
