The weather is beautiful and it is well and truly BBQ season here! Thanks to the lovely Melissa and Doug, the boys can cook up a storm with their very own *Grill and BBQ Playset.   We are huge fans of Melissa and Doug and have many of their fabulous wooden toys. We have a doll’s house with figures and a car, which are absolutely beautiful. They have stood the test of time with my two and both still look as pristine as they were when new. Their toys are really built to last and have a wonderful nostalgic feel to them being traditional wooden toys, kind of takes me back to my childhood in the 80s. The Mellisa and Doug Rotisserie & Grill Barbecue Playset is such a gorgeous playset. You get so many little extras included such as –

• The grill
• A whole rotisserie chicken on a turnable skewer
• Fish
• Shrimp
• Vegetables
• Sausage
• Barbecue Sauce
• Utensils

Little ones can fire up the grill with the ignition button and turn up the temperature with the moveable dials on the front. With the choice of a kid-friendly knife, spatula, basting brush or tongs, they can prepare, cut, flip and serve a delicious meal. All of the food can be chopped up with the play knife as each section has a velcro fastening to connect them back together afterward.

There is also a huge whole chicken that can be turned on the skewer. This also can be cut up into pieces and you can add veggies to make a chicken kebab skewer.

I think this bbq playset is fantastic. It not only helps aid fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination, but it also encourages little ones to use their imagination. My youngest is autistic and up until about 2 years ago he never involved himself with imaginative play at all, which did make me sad. So I bought many role-play toys such as our dolls house, where he could familiarise himself with the family in a home (like ours) and interactive toys like this one. All have helped him open up a whole new world of play and he can now express himself in so many ways. Melissa and Doug will always get a big thumbs up from us. And as I end this review, I’m off to eat the amazing fish dinner he has lovingly prepared for me.
