Meal planning for families.

It’s nice to be back on track with our meal plan. With my eldest being full of cold bless him and then the unsettling of the routine has proven a little tough to stay on track! But now that we have to stay at home more, meal planning makes more sense than ever. We are seeing ourselves being more frugal and utilising what we have which is always a good thing.
Here is what our meal plan looks like this week –

Monday  –  Potato gratin. We have quite a few potatoes that need using up so this will be perfect.

Tuesday –  Sausage casserole. I will be using a Colman’s mix sachet that I already have in the cupboard. My boys always clean their plates when we have this, so zero waste.

Wednesday – Tuna pasta salad. I’ve been eating more salads just lately. I don’t know if the sunshine and slightly warmer days have put me in the mood, but I’m enjoying them.

Thursday – Chicken and ham pie with vegetables. A nice hearty dinner. My eldest loves cooking and will be helping me make this.

Friday – Cheesy meatballs with rigatoni. This is one of our family favourites! It’s quick and easy to make and there’s always plenty to go around.

Saturday – Sweet and sour chicken with rice. I have a few frozen chicken steaks in the freezer so I will be using those up on this.

Sunday –  A lamb dinner with mint gravy and roasted vegetables. I seem to be losing track of the days with our routine taking a bump, so hopefully, a good old Sunday dinner will spread a little normality around the house!

Do you meal plan? What are you having this week?

  1. We definitely meal plan; this week we’re having waffles & bacon, homemade pizza with salad, a chicken stir fry with rice, stuffed chicken breasts with pasta and sauce, and… a few other meals I can’t think of off the top of my head.

  2. My life would be so much easier if I did meal plan. I spend a good half hour just deciding what I want. It will be helpful for reducing waste too.

  3. Oh no! I hope your eldest feels better soon.
Great meal plan. Sausage casserole is one of our favourites too.
I was fancying a salad last week with the warmer weather. I can’t wait for the summer to eat more.
I do love a lamb dinner but never make one because my lot won’t eat lamb. Ugh!

  4. Now everybody is home full time I am having to meal plan too – usually during the week I only have to cook for me. It’s good to see what other families are eating – cheese meatballs sound particularly yummy :o)
