I don’t know about you but when I was a kid I liked all of the snacks. They were normally in the forms of a 10p mix, do you remember those? Sherbet dips, fruit salads, fizz whizz popping candy, pretty much anything that resulted in me bouncing off the walls. Not a healthy snack in sight!

Now I have two children of my own, I understand the importance of a balanced diet. My 7 year old would seriously eat his own body weight in junk snacks if he could. Just like recently when it was dinner time and he picked and picked at his dinner. After coaxing him to eat it, he managed half of his plate.

It wasn’t until later that night when the kids were tucked up in bed and I was in the kitchen making Craig and I a cuppa, that I noticed the Pringles tin on the side. It was almost empty! Yes, the cheeky monkey had polished them off albeit a hand full in the bottom.

Picky Eater

As a result of just wanting snacks 24/7, he was more picky with his meals. So I have been doing some meal planning and making dinner time more fun by involving him more in the choices of what we have. Also introducing lots of new dishes too. We soon mastered that and he now will eat his dinners without playing with his food. We then needed to work on the snacking!

So when I noticed the all new Fruit Shoot Fruit Bars I just had to get some.

  1. I’ve never heard of these before, but what an interesting concept. I like that they provide children with one of their five a day 🙂

  2. I could do with these in Portugal. It’s very hard to find healthy convenient snacks here. I’m trying to prepare snack bags for our Disney trip and struggling. These would be ideal!
