We have always been a big fan of wooden toys. Both of my boys have had plenty of wooden toys over the years. They just have that long-term durability and nostalgia that plastic toys just don’t have. We recently received the Hape Rainbow Puzzle Railway and Brave Little Engine and it is such a fun little playset.

Hape Rainbow Puzzle Railway £75.00

Hape Rainbow Puzzle Railway

The colours of this playset are so vibrant and it really is great fun for little ones. The playset has four interactive sections of track that make this much more than just another train set.

Hape brave little engine toy

There is a xylophone which chimes each time the train trundles across it. The Brave Little Engine is motorised and uses two AA batteries which power it around the track. This is particularly great for younger children who can sit and watch the train make its own way around the track, activating the sounds on the track as it passes.

Hape musical railway track toy

There is a tambourine section which plays a pretty little tune as the wheels of the train trigger the cymbals.

Hape wooden building blocks

Included in this playset are six blocks that make houses or whatever kind of building you would like. There are also two trees. The building blocks have a mirror, a magnifier and a prism which encourages interaction.

Hape bead maze

There is also a bead maze and a shape sorting section of track. You can take the three shapes out of the track and little ones can then replace them before the train comes.

Hape children's wooden train toy

There are three animals included with the playset, each sits snuggly on a train carriage for the train to pull them along. As with all Hape train sets, the carriages are connected by magnets, so there is nothing fiddly for little hands to struggle with.

This Rainbow Puzzle Railway playset is compatible with any other Hape sets so you can add different trains or make a larger set by combining the tracks.

  1. These toys look so nice for younger children. I like how colourful and chunky they look.
