How To Style Your Fences

The fences in your garden might not seem like the most interesting part of the space, after all, they are usually just a barrier between you and other gardens, or a way to keep animals (and nosey neighbours) out.

The thing that we all forget about our fences, is that they are actually a blank canvas, a part of our outdoor space that we can try and transform into something a whole lot more beautiful. But the trouble is, where do we start? To help inspire you to create a beautiful garden, fences and all, we have put together our guide on how to style your fences.

 

Add a focal point

How many of us like the idea of being able to sit down in our garden and watch the world go by? Well, chances are that it is most of us. This means that you are going to need somewhere to sit and relax. You can combine the need to jazz up your fences, with a place to sit by adding a focal point to your fence, such as with Sloane and Sons Garden Benches. Paint it

One of the easiest ways to brighten up your garden fence is to add a touch of paint to it. The great thing about paint is that you can make it as crazy and zany as you want. But for those that are bolder and braver, you can go all out, even opting for a rainbow effect.

 

Hang on some lights

Every garden will benefit from correctly styled lighting. Especially if you like to sit out there for as long as possible. There are a variety of different lights out there that can work on your fence (so long as they are outdoor proof). You could hang up rope lights, fairy lights or even coloured glass jars with lights in. All of which will really make sure that your garden looks its best.

 

Display some signs

Signs are becoming a popular addition to interior design, so, it makes sense that they are also starting to spill out into the garden too. Gardens look great when hung on fences and they could also create an area, such as where you keep your tools or where you hang your gloves when you are not gardening. The style of sign that you go for will really depend on your own personal tastes, however, there really are plenty out there to choose from.

 

Add interesting planters

Fences are great for hanging up planters which you can then add your chosen blooms to. The thing about planters is that the usual type can be a bit on the uninteresting side, which is not exactly ideal if you want to add something special to your fence. Why not try something a little different as a planter? You could use tin cans for a rustic look or perhaps some welly boots if you want things to be a little more fun? It really is down to you what you attach to your fence to plant in.

 

Paint a mural

Now, this is one for those who are a little on the artistic side. If you are creative and enjoy painting, then why not use this skill to transform your fence? Murals can take some time and you are going to need to focus on them, but in the long run they really do brighten up your fence and give a unique touch to your entire garden.

 

Wall art

Wall art is usually seen inside our homes, but that doesn’t mean that it can’t work outside. The only thing that you may find with wall art for your fences is that you need to pick items that are going to be able to withstand any weather and still look great.

Fences don’t have to be dull and uninteresting, all you need is to think outside of the box and try out some new ways to spruce them up. Whichever you go for, you will soon have a garden space that not only looks inviting but looks stylish too. The ideal combination inside or outside of your home.
