Angel cakes 10

It’s that time of year again where little noses run and coughs and colds do their rounds. We have already had a couple of good bouts in our house this year. We are certainly keeping the tissue trade in business that’s a fact! And the colds and viruses going around lately can really get a hold of little ones and leave them feeling really miserable, so I try my best to keep the boys entertained whilst poorly. Here’s some of our #Vickstricks to help the kids feel better when unwell.

A Day At The Movies

Lets face it, blocked up noses and sore throats suck! I always find that a good old movie day never fails. We get our favourite fleecy throw or duvet, get comfy on the sofa, armed with popcorn and a good film.

We get our bake on and cook something quick and easy. Angel cakes seem to hit the spot!

Breathing Easier With Vicks Cool mist Humidifier

#vickstricks helping kids get over a cold

This has to be THE best thing for colds, apart from vapour rub that is. My eldest has had cold after cold the past few weeks and it always seems to go straight to his chest.  Turning the humidifier on in his bedroom and leaving it running through the night, will instantly ease his breathing and sooth his chest. I would never be without this now, we all use this and feel the benefit from it instantly.

Nip It In The Bud

The best thing you can do is stop the cold before it gets chance to take hold. We have to be extra careful as Craig my husband has had a heart transplant. This means he has to take anti rejection drugs that literally suppress his immune system. So we all have to take precautions by means of flu injections and I often use Vicks First defence nasal spray.

According to Vicks research –

✿ Over half (52%) of parents said that rest was the most important thing for making children feel        better.

✿ 40% of parents rely on medicine.

✿ More than a third of parents (36%) believe in the power of TLC.

How do you help your child get through a cold?

  1. I wish I’d known about the Vicks humidifier before I bought the one I have. It’s OK and does the job but sometimes it feels like we could do with a bit more oomph to help our son at night when he’s got a cold.

  2. Hi Jayne, you’ve got to love Vicks. We always have it in the drawer and it’s great for adding to hot water for a sinus-clearing steam. I must say I do like the sound of the Vicks humidifier, my daughter would probably benefit from something like that as she always gets snuffly when she has a cold. I have put a block on any more germs coming into the house this winter, enough is enough now.
