February Half Term in Staffordshire

Looking for budget-friendly activities to enjoy during February half-term in Staffordshire? We’ve got plenty of great ideas! As a home-educating parent, I’m always exploring fun and educational outings with my boys. Our round-up includes everything from family-friendly walking trails and nature reserves to cinemas and more. Hopefully, you’ll find the perfect way to keep the kids entertained this half-term.

Outdoor activities in Staffordshire

Trentham Estate

The Trentham Estate has something to offer all year round, but there are plenty of things to enjoy over half-term. You can take the kids a walk around the mile-long lake, through woodland and across the stunning gardens whilst looking for the fairies.

Trentham Monkey Forest

The Monkey Forest in Trentham is a lovely way to spend a few hours outside. We have been several times and it’s always fun to watch the cute Barbary macaques.

Cannock Chase

Cannock Chase is a lovely place to spend some time with the kids.

There are some beautiful trails for walking.

Head to the Ladyhill trail to find the Gruffalo Sculptures at Cannock Chase.

Get ready to join Zog on his latest forest adventure with a brand-new family activity trail and free app – Zog activity trail at Cannock Chase.

Treetop Adventure at Go Ape – show off your best tree-climbing skills as you soar through the sky with your hands-free to proudly wave from the speedy zip wire.

The Visitor Centre and Café at Marquis Drive is open 7 days a week and is the starting point for numerous self-guided walking and family cycling trails, including routes for people with disabilities. Electric scooters are available for a fee, for people with mobility problems. There is an adventure playground, picnic sites, bird watching area and a recently reconstructed Great War Hut (limited opening). The shop sells maps and souvenirs. There are toilets including disabled provision.

National Forest Adventure Farm

Pop in over half-term and say hello to the cute new arrivals in the Animal Barn and on the Ewe Maternity Ward. You can also have a go at feeding the baby lambs and try your hand at some fun Farming activities.

The Wolseley Centre

The Wolseley Centre always has lots of outdoor activities to join in with.

Wildfamilies – Learning Hub.
Monday 17th February 2025 1:30pm – 3.30pm

Come and celebrate early Spring and valentine’s day at The Wolseley Centre!  
Enjoy lovely themed craft items to make, create some feeders for our feathered friends and there will be a trail for spotting seasonal wildlife.

Family Wildlings – Outdoor Classroom
Monday 17th February 2024 10.30am – 12pm

Wildlings is a play group with a twist with Staffordshire Wildlife Trust! Come along and try new things outdoors. You could swing in a hammock, get mucky making a mud pie or find yourselves mesmerised by the flames of a campfire. 

Shugborough Hall

Shugborough Hall has lots of things to see and do.
Go for a walk around the estate, have fun on the Explorers’ Wood play area, learn about Park Farm at the interactive farmyard exhibit and explore the super cool house.
Both my auntie and grandad used to work for the Earl of Lichfield so it’s no surprise Shugborough Hall is one of my favourite places to visit.

Cinebowl Uttoxeter

This branch has currently updated its bowling alleys –
They have modernised their bowling experience with the next generation in string pinspotter technology, which has been gaining popularity in Europe and the United States and is now becoming more popular in the UK. Museums in Staffordshire

RAF Museum Cosford

The Royal Air Force Museum offers a super fun, entertaining day out for the whole family. Entry is free and they are open daily from 10.00am.

The new Bomber Command Exhibition is now open at both of the sites. You can explore and engage with stories of the crew, technology and raids that were crucial to Allied victory in the Second World War. As well as our iconic aircraft, they will be exhibiting objects from their archives which will reveal the real stories of the real people involved.

The World of Wedgewood

School’s out for Half-Term and The World of Wedgewood are opening their decorating studio for pottery painting fun every day of the week! 

17th – 21st February
Friday 1pm – 5pm 
Saturday & Sunday 10am – 5pm

During school holidays our Decorating Studio is open Monday – Sunday 

Apedale Heritage Centre

Take a tour of the underground mine and visit the museum to discover old mining artifacts.
The miner’s cottage gives an insight into everyday family life in the past. I love to take the kids to heritage sites like this as my grandad was a miner. It’s quite a nostalgic experience.
