There’s something about autumn that makes me want to pick up my crochet hook and make all the cosy things. The colours, the textures, the slower pace, it’s just the perfect time of year to get the crafts out, isn’t it!
As I didn’t get my Christmas wreath finished in time last year, I’ve since made a spring wreath and decided, why not a crochet autumn wreath?
I’ve seen so many beautiful indoor autumn wreaths online lately, and I couldn’t resist having a go at my own version. I used a mix of patterns from some talented YouTubers, along with a few of my own little creations, to make something completely unique.
It’s amazing what you can create when you mix and match ideas.
Choosing the Yarn and Colours
I wanted my wreath to feel cosy and rustic, so I went for warm, earthy tones like rust, mustard, cream, and deep green. Most of the yarn (DK yarn) was already in my stash (a nice little bonus when you’ve got more yarn than you care to admit!).
I used a simple rattan wreath. I got a pack of three from Temu that was cheaper than I paid for just one, last year.
Making the crochet leaves and pumpkins
This was definitely one of those nice, mindful projects that you can just switch off and crochet along while watching TV.
For my wreath I made:
- A few crocheted leaves in different shapes and sizes.
- Mini crochet toadstools
- Mini crochet pumpkins

Once everything was ready, I arranged the pieces on the wreath and attached them using a glue gun. It’s a bit like putting together a puzzle, so satisfying when you find the perfect spot for each piece!

If you’re tempted to give it a try, I say go for it! There are plenty of tutorials out there if you are new to crocheting. Mix and match patterns, experiment with colours, and make it your own.

I’ve never seen a crocheted wreath, but they’re wonderful. I love the autumn one. If it were 20 years ago, I’d give it a try. I had to give up crocheting when the arthritis in my hands caused too much pain when I tried to crochet. It was a sad day. It was fun and relaxing. #MMBC
That is so adorable! I was thinking that this is the last year I’ll be able to enjoy my fall wreath and will need to swap out the flowers and ribbons next fall since the ones on our door are fading.
