I cannot believe that we’ve had our little (well, not so little) Annie for three months now! The days have passed so quickly since we went to fetch our bundle of blonde fluff. Annie has grown so much since the last update, it is clear to see that she is going to be a large dog. She is so full of energy and regularly has us in tears of laughter with her goofy antics.
It is amazing how much she has changed since we had her. Especially when we look back at the photos that we took when she first arrived. Obviously, I am always taking photographs. I have so many wonderful memories of my first dog Tikka, our Staffordshire bull terrier. I really am so glad that I have thousands of photos of him to look back on. I’ve been taking lots of photos of Annie as she grows too and I think I will be creating some kind of collage with them all to pop on the wall. She has such a pretty little face so it would be nice to have some kind of animal portrait done of her. I’ve seen a few companies like Vector Pets that can turn your pet’s photo into a caricature type image.
Annie fits into our lifestyle really well and is fantastic with our boys just as Tikka was. She is very greedy food orientated so is fairly easy to teach. Annie has nearly mastered her house training and she goes through the night without getting us up.
Don’t get me wrong, Annie may look like an angel but she can be the devil in disguise! Haha. You only have to turn your back on Annie for a moment and she will be found running around the house with one of our shoes in her mouth! And I have so many socks with holes in it’s untrue!
Putting the holey socks and chewed trainers to one side, I definitely think that the benefits of having a dog in your life far outweigh the work involved. It doesn’t matter how bad a day you are having, puppy snuggles always make it better! I can certainly see why people say that having a dog is good for your mental health.
In the three months that Annie has been with us, our life, just like many others, has been considerably different from what we thought it would have been when we fetched her. We have obviously been spending much more time indoors, as a heart transplant family, we are shielding and are unable to get out and about anywhere near as much as we would like. Annie has been a big distraction from the current environment for us as well as something for the boys to focus on. We cannot wait until we can explore the countryside with Annie in tow, or the first time she can experience bounding across the beach into the sea. At the moment though it is much more important to stay safe, and our future adventures are something for us all to look forward to.

Annie looks Beautiful! Nice to hear that she is doing well with the training. Chewing :- Yes, I can remember as a pup the dogs did chew quite a lot. We were ever so grateful for the chewables available from the pet shops.
A portrait sounds like a nice idea.
Just gorgeous. We were out on a walk last weekend and bumped into a young golden retriever. Must be similar ages, but it made me realise how tough it is to socialise pups at the moment. It sounds like you are doing a good job with Annie with all the attention and training. #mmbc
