I think when you have little ones and a home to keep, it can be such a huge strain on your finances. So when it comes to home improvements, I find that tackling one job at a time can prevent your money being swallowed up in one go. A lot of the projects can not only improve the state of your home, but can save you some money in the long run too!
Here are 5 Essential Projects for your home
Improving Efficiency
A new boiler. We have an oil fired boiler and saved immensely on our fuel bills when we got rid of the old one and updated with a newer model. Benefiting especially at this time of year when the temperature really drops.
Getting your roof and wall cavities insulated. I think there are various companies/trusts that will fit for free if your home qualifies. You may be eligible if you claim a certain benefit or your income is below £16,000. It might pay to give the Energy Saving Trust a ring for more info.
Securing Your Property
A decent set of windows and doors is right up there on my list. Not only do I want the exterior to look smart, I want piece of mind that my kids are safe and that the house is secure when we are away. Quickslide ticks off all of those needs. With so many designs and colours, I know I am going to get exactly what I am looking for.
And for maximum space and light you could install Bi-fold doors.
A Lick Of Paint
It’s surprising how a little paint can really spruce up the home and it doesn’t cost the earth to do so.

If like us, then your sideboards are filled up with the kids ipods, kindles, ipads and anything else that needs charging! If this sounds familiar then you would probably benefit from a USB Wall Socket. Absolutely genius!
Make More Room
Lacking space in the home? Then perhaps a conservatory will do the trick. A USB wall socket would be so useful, definitely something I’d like to look into at some point. It helps that my other half is an electrician so he’d be able to do it for me x
These are great tips, we have recently moved to a much bigger home and we have so much work to do. Luckily the house we moved to has just had a new combi boiler fitted and composit doors. We still need to redecorate the kids rooms and all of downstairs though xx

A lick of paint really does do wonders and if I had it my way then I would paint my walls in a nice shade of pastel pink!

Hi Jayne, a lick of paint works wonders for making a home look nice and fresh and is something we keep meaning to do in the main part of the house! Soon, soon… I have never heard of a USB wall socket. I will be looking into one of those that’s for sure.
