It’s been a funny old month. We’ve had a birthday in lockdown, a greenhouse demolished by the wind and a rescue mission of some ducklings from the canal lock!
I love sharing our likes and loves for the month, especially in times like these. Something as simple as a brew and a piece of cake can really lighten the mood.
*Coffee and Cake
Coffee and cake, the perfect combination! So my husband would say. We had a lovely coffee and cake hamper delivered by Meg Rivers that we really enjoyed.
Meg Rivers is an artisanal bakery in the Cotswolds that offers cake, biscuits, hampers and tray bakes delivered to your door.
I have to say this gorgeous hamper is absolutely fantastic! From packaging to the delicious products, it’s quite evident just how much thought and dedication goes into each box of joy!

The coffee and cake hamper contains a walnut and coffee cake, two trays of chocolate brownie, a pack of hand-roasted, ground coffee and a beautiful stripy Cornishware mug.
I think this hamper makes a beautiful gift and with each sale £5 is donated to the Teenage Cancer Trust. I can’t recommend Meg Rivers Bakers Artisian Bakery enough!

*Beeswax Food Wraps
I had never even thought of using these before until now. These are organic cotton sheets that are impregnated with beeswax. Beeswax wraps are genius because you can wash them in warm water and reuse them over and over so they reduce landfill waste from sandwich bags. When you are finished with them, they are 100% biodegradable. You can warm them up between your hands to easily shape them around food making an airtight seal, keeping food fresher for longer.
We used one of our snack bags to give some birthday cake to nanny and Ray. I am totally converted by these and think they are a fab answer to single-use plastic. Available from Talacooking.com.

Celebrating A 10th Birthday
My eldest turned 10 this month and I don’t think we did a bad job off our lockdown party! We still chatted to friends and family via zoom, ate lots of cake and played with new toys. Jayden said he had a fantastic birthday, so that’s all that matters.

*Playing Games
Playing family board games is an activity we all enjoy in our house. Although some of us are overly competitive, mentioning no names, Craig and Jayden hehe! We’ve been playing The Good Life which is a beautiful and colourful family board game. You move around the board with your wheelbarrow and fill your garden and your allotment with a selection of animals, equipment, fruit and vegetables.
You will also deal with challenges along the way such as protecting your chickens from the foxes!

The game is a lot less competitive than many other board games and it is a lovely way to pass the time.

*Shane The Chef Book – And Win!
We love getting our boys involved with as much cooking as possible. If you have little ones that watch Milkshake, you may know about Shane the Chef. Shane is a celebrity chef for younger children, nothing like Gordon Ramsay! The whole idea of the show is to teach children where their food comes from and throughout the show, Shane and his daughter Izzy make a recipe.
This is the cookbook that accompanies the show. Each one of the recipes in the book is for children to make with their parents. There is a full list of ingredients for each recipe along with the utensils that you will need. There is also a note to tell you which episode each recipe is featured in so you can watch it on catch up. You can have a chance to win your own copy of Shane the Chef’s cookbook. Have a look at our giveaway at the bottom of this post.

Crafting
I love crafts any day of the week but I have been enjoying it a little more since the lockdown. I recently used some old fabric up to sew a peg bag. It’s surprising when you get stuck into a project, how fast the time goes by.

*A Bit Of Pampering
With Craig being at home shielding, I’m making the most of having a little extra me-time. It’s not something that I generally get as a rule. Homeschooling, work and general jobs around the house tend to come first.
It’s so nice to sit outside in the sunshine whilst doing a little work and then having a nice bath with some lovely smellies come the evening.
I’ve been using Palmolive pomegranate in the shower and it smells amazing!

I’ve also been using Sanex deodorant which is very welcomed with these lovely hot sunny days. We use a few of Sanex’s products especially the kid’s bath time lotion. It’s really gentle on sensitive skin.
Then to end the day perfectly, I will sit down with a tipple or two and treat my fastly ageing face to a BioMiracle face mask, bliss!

I really like the look of the Good Life Board Game – it seems like a far less aggressive game than other games on the market!
Sounds like a great book.
This looks a fab book for kids
Ohh! That coffee and cake hamper does look fab! What a lovely treat.
The beeswax food wraps look like a brilliant idea.
