We have always enjoyed getting out and about as a family and visiting different places, but with the current climate we are making the most of staying home together yet still enjoying the fresh air and keeping active.
Knowing how much we love to be outdoors, Rollplay Toys very kindly sent Jayden A Wave Catcher Electric Scooter and it is awesome!
Wave Catcher Electric Scooter 8+ Years
The Wavecatcher is not just a traditional scooter it is a super nifty 24-volt electric scooter is inspired by windsurfing. It is half-scooter, half-skateboard. The front has height-adjustable handlebars that you can steer like a traditional scooter. The back end has two wheels and tilts from side to side to allow the rider to surf and control the steering through balance. The combination of the two steering techniques results in some pretty epic handling and it is easy for the rider to master some amazing moves.
Jayden loves speed so he was very keen to get on and have a go. Understandably he was a little cautious at first and stood quite rigid! Hehe, but the more he practised the more he was able to manoeuvre the scooter more smoothly.
The Wavecatcher is delivered in a single box and does require a small amount of assembly. Rollplay Toys have really thought about this though and it took less than 15 minutes from opening the box to having the scooter ready to charge. The instructions are clear and the only thing you need to put it together is a Phillips screwdriver.
The charger has an LED indicator on it to let you know when it is charged. From flat to fully charged take six hours and the battery then gives up to an hour of run time.
The scooter has foldable handlebars which makes it much easier to store. The folding mechanism is well designed and sturdy and has indicators to show that it is locked properly before riding.

A power button on the base of the scooter glows red when the scooter is turned on. If left for 30 minutes without being used it will turn itself off automatically. To engage the motor there are two buttons on the handlebars, you can use either the left or the right depending on your child’s preference.
You simply push off as you would with a traditional scooter, press the button and the motor engages smoothly. The scooter then cruises along at speeds of up to 10mph until you want to stop. There is a rear brake, activated by a large red paddle on the rear of the board which slows the rear wheels and disengages the motor bring the scooter to a safe and controlled stop.
If 10mph sounds a little too extreme, there is a speed restriction button next to the power button that, when pressed, illuminates green and limits the top speed of the scooter to 5mph.
The Wave Catcher from Rollplay Toys has been a massive hit. Jayden has not put it down and is constantly trying to master new tricks and moves on it. The biggest attraction to this scooter is that you don’t need acres of land to enjoy it properly. A patio area would be fantastic to create an obstacle course, because of the unique way that the Wave Catcher can move it doesn’t need much space to operate.
At just under £193.00 it may sound a little expensive, but I know the Wave Catcher will provide endless fun and keep my little stunt man busy, active and entertained for years to come!
