As a busy parent, it can be hard to find time for the things that you used to do before kids. You know the kinds of things; drinking a hot cup of tea, sleeping, eating a meal without sharing it. When parenthood starts, all these things can feel like a distant memory.
Being a parent is the best feeling in the world, but it does leave you rushed off your feet and with little spare time. This can result in your health taking a backseat.
Neglecting yourself may seem like the standard thing for mums to do. In the long term, neglecting your health can leave you feeling permanently under the weather. Feeling tired and run down becomes a vicious circle, so at some point, you have to break the cycle and start to take better care of yourself.
Beat Sleep Deprivation
Sleep deprivation is the worst! People think that once little ones pass the newborn stage, they will be sleeping soundly throughout the night. How wrong they are! As anyone with a toddler knows, these little people are capable of being incredibly lively on minimal sleep. Nowadays, there are also natural products such as the ones from Area 52, that you can use to help you to drift off more easily.
Sometimes, there’s not enough coffee in the world to make you feel human after a night without sleep. Although it is tempting to stay up and watch TV after the kids go to bed, sometimes the best thing to do is try and get some rest yourself. Heading to bed early may not seem like much fun, but it is the best way to reduce your sleep deficit, and you will feel much better for it in the morning.
Deal with Discomfort Down There
Issues such as thrush and bacterial vaginosis can be a real source of discomfort. Unfortunately, when life is hectic, you may try to ignore feeling uncomfortable and hope it gets better on its own. However, dealing with the issue sooner rather than later is always the best course of action. Speak to your pharmacist about your symptoms, and they should be able to advise you on the best treatment for you. Your pharmacist may recommend a product such as bv gel to provide you with relief.
Always see your doctor if symptoms persist so that they can establish the cause of your discomfort, and never ignore your symptoms.
Recharge Your Energy
Not taking care of your health can leave you feeling run down and can also affect your appearance. Your hair and skin may become dull, and you may find yourself reaching for comfort food to try and up your energy levels.
Sugary snacks may provide a fast energy boost, but in the long term, they may leave you feeling worse. Try to stay hydrated by drinking enough water and increase the amount of fruit and vegetables in your diet. If you are short of time, making a smoothie is a fast way to introduce extra fruit and vegetables into your day. These methods should help you to look better, feel better, and give your energy levels a boost.
