Songs you should have on your ipod. Feel good songs

It’s Tunetastic Tuesday! That time of the week where we listen to some tunes chosen by a blogger/reader. If you missed our last feature then you can catch up with it here Little Orange Dog’s Top Tracks.  This week sharing 5 tracks from their playlist is Becky from Baby Budgeting.

Over to you Becky….

Here are 5 songs I play a lot and adore. If I had to give myself a musical hashtag it would be #oldfashionedbutfullofheart

To be fair I am 46 this year so have had many years of music to pick from!

The Source FT Candi Station – You’ve Got The Love

The very first CD I ever owned and such a feel good song. This would come on in o the clubs and we would dance dance dance – everyone would get up! It still has that effect on me.

JJ Cale –  Magnolia

I fell in love to this song to an entirely unsuitable man who broke my heart It is sheer poetry..a really beautiful song and always makes me sigh and smile.

U2 –  All I Want Is You

A love song I never tire of and the words are just beautiful. I hum this all the time. U2 was my favourite band in my early teens and many of their songs sound so dated now but this one never does. It’s just gorgeous.

Louis Armstrong – What A Wonderful World

Louis is a man whose beautiful smile radiates the happiest of souls I  adore watching him sing almost as much as I adore hearing him sing. My dad just adored him and would whistle this song all the time. It’s been 20 years since I lost my dad and this song brings him and his infectious optimism back to me every time.

Ronan Keating – I Hope You Dance

Lots of people have covered this song but this is my favourite version. It’s a song I sing to my children and have sung to them since they were babies. I always hope they’ll dance and follow this most fabulous advice. When you get the choice to sit it out or dance? I hope you’ll dance. I hope that for all of you too. Thanks for having me!

  1. One of the best things about having small kids is that I can sing all sorts of cheesy songs as loud as I want to and no one bats an eyelid as I’m singing to my kids.

  2. ‘What a Wonderful World’ is one of my favourite songs and was played at my Grandad’s funeral. It always makes me so emotional when I hear it and reminds me of all the wonderful memories I have of him.

  3. Some really interesting tunes I’ve never heard of here – and a version of a favourite too! Armstrong is such a legend! I seem to end up listening to the soundtracks from which movie is my kids’ favourite at the moment. I was pleasantly surprised by how good the Despicable Me 3 soundtrack is! Sadly that’s about the extent of my musical exposure of late!

  4. I love that hashtag #oldfashionedbutfullofheart – sounds like something I would definitely come up with too. U2 “All I Want Is You” is my aunt’s all time favourite song.
